Former NFL quarterback Drew Brees remains steadfast in his critical assessment of the reigning champion Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles are the NFC’s lone unbeaten team at 4-0. Still, Brees argued on First Take that Philly is “not the best team in the NFL” (via Eagles Nation).

The 13-time Pro Bowler pointed out the Eagles’ struggles on offense and the close calls they’ve had to say their record might be a little deceiving. He spun that positively, though, to say Philadelphia will be dominant if its offense can revert to its 2024 form.

This isn’t the first time Brees has scrutinized Nick Sirianni’s squad on national television. Last week, he said on First Take he “can’t stand to watch that offense.”

“It’s the most boring offense,” he said.

Given the forum, Brees might have been a little hyperbolic for effect. His broad point about Philly isn’t that unfair.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts is averaging 152.3 passing yards per game, and his six yards per attempt are tied for 25th among qualified QBs. Running back Saquon Barkley has 237 yards on the ground, well behind the torrid pace he set during his 2,000-yard campaign last year.

Altogether, the Eagles have the NFL’s third-worst offense in terms of yards (251.5 per game) despite boasting plenty of star power.

It’s also worth noting how a running narrative throughout 2024 was that many within the Eagles fanbase weren’t sure Sirianni was the right man for the job as the team racked up win after win.

Brees’ points might ring a bit hollow now when Sirianni and Philadelphia can point to the success from a season ago. But nobody can say the Eagles are playing up to their full potential when the offense is performing like this.

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was asked about ex-NFL signal-caller (and current ESPN analyst) Cam Newton’s recent criticism of him on First Take amid the team’s struggles, in which he pointed to the ex-Alabama star’s $212.4 million contract, compared it to other quarterbacks making less and playing better and essentially said he’s lacking a “chip on his shoulder” these days.

Tagovailoa provided this response.

“Well, anyone can play quarterback in this league, then. I mean, I want to see anybody on the streets come and play quarterback. I mean, Cam’s doing his thing, for sure, but you know, I think it’s easier to be able to hold a clicker and talk about it that way, or talk about what someone else is doing wrong when you’re not going out and having to do the same as them, right? So I think it’s easy to do that. I think anybody can do that. I don’t think anybody can play quarterback.”

Newton made his remarks after Miami fell to 0-3 (h/t Josue Pavon of Clutch Points).

Tua Tagovailoa is making more than Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hurts, Baker Mayfield, Matthew Stafford, Jayden Daniels. Am I pocket watching? No, no, no. I’m putting things into perspective here,” Newton said. “What did Biggie say, ‘More money, more problems.’ In this case, it should be more money, more expectations. When I see Tua Tagovailoa over this year alone, I’ve heard him more than I ever have.

“That’s not to say you can’t talk. I like quiet Tua, Alabama Tua, Chip on the shoulder Tua, not somebody going to come in and watch film.”

Newton also added: “What you’re being paid, what you’re being asked to do, what you have the capability of. From one quarterback to another, I look at a situation, it’s like bro, come on, dog. Especially when you got a Ferrari and Lamborghini, and other amenities that some quarterbacks wish they had.”

Tagovailoa is clearly capable of much better play. He led the NFL in yards per attempt (8.9) and quarterback rating (105.5) in 2022. In 2023, Tagovailoa threw for an NFL-high 4,624 passing yards. And then in 2024, Tagovailoa’s 72.9 percent completion rate was a league-best mark.

The 2025 season has included a rough start for Tagovailoa and the 0-3 Dolphins. Tagovailoa has notably thrown a costly interception in each of his last two games, including one with his team down 28-21 but driving deep in enemy territory in the final three minutes of an eventual 31-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills last Thursday.

For the season, Tagovailoa has thrown five touchdowns and four interceptions while amassing 191.7 passing yards per game, down from 260.6 the year before.

He and the Dolphins will look to get in the win column on Monday when they host the New York Jets.

Kenny Omega fired back at a wrestling legend with an insult that was pretty easy to decipher.

Omega wrote the following on Twitter/X on Wednesday, taking a shot at a wrestling “legend†for what he implied was them kissing up to WWE.

“Another day and another “legend†doing the splits on it for the yearly TKO gift basket… ?,†Omega wrote.

Omega didnâ€t directly name his target, but many fans speculated that he was taking aim at Gail Kim, who recently criticized Rihoâ€s believability as a wrestler.

Kim recently came under fire after she criticized a clip of director Michael Philippou competing in an Exploding Barbed Wire Match. The TNA Hall of Famer called the spot, which featured panes of glass and barbed wire, “pure trash†that showed the lack of storytelling ability. Her response was widely criticized by many, including GCW owner Brett Lauderdale. Kim and Lauderdale later agreed that they just had a difference of opinion, but one of Kimâ€s other remarks about believability in wrestling got her into more hot water.

During one related exchange, Gail Kim said that Japanese female wrestler Riho looked like a little girl in one of her past matches, and it made her uncomfortable. Specifically, Kim said that Rihoâ€s presentation and camera shots that showed up her skirt felt improper. In addition, Kim also said that sheâ€s into believable wrestling, and couldnâ€t believe “a little girl†could compete with the other women in the division.

Gail Kim explains what made her uncomfortable about Riho

She attempted to clarify that her criticism was about one specific match years ago, and was not an overall assessment. However, many fans still criticized her, calling her a hypocrite and sharing clips of her own matches against opponents like Awesome Kong.

Now, Omegaâ€s comment seems to imply heâ€s not happy with her comments either. Omega has had a close relationship with Riho for many years. Many pointed out that Kimâ€s remarks must have really been upsetting, considering Omega does not normally speak out in this fashion.

Bryson DeChambeau has faced a good bit of criticism ahead of the Ryder Cup, but United States team captain Keegan Bradley came to his defense.

Bradley said DeChambeau’s “energy” is needed in an event like the Ryder Cup.

“He’s a really fiery player,” Bradley said Tuesday, per ESPN’s Paolo Uggetti. “When you come to a Ryder Cup, you don’t want guys to try to be something they’re not. We have a lot of calm, mellow guys, so we need the energy from Bryson.”

DeChambeau, who is the only member of the United States’ team that competes in LIV rather than the PGA Tour, has been criticized throughout his career, witch much of that criticism being because of his YouTube channel.

Uggetti noted that Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee on Monday called DeChambeau a “captain’s nightmare” who cares only for “interest for himself.”

But DeChambeau’s teammates have his back heading into the event, which begins Friday. Along with Bradley, Scottie Scheffler had high praise for DeChambeau.

“I think Bryson is a tremendous competitor. He’s a great partner as well. I partnered with him in 2021 at Whistling Straits and he was a tremendous guy to be out to be golf course with. He’s a great guy and a good friend and he’s been great in our team room,” Scheffler said, per CBS Sports’ Robby Kalland. “He brings a lot of energy, the people love him, and I think he loves the opportunity to be able to represent his country. He’s a multiple-time U.S. Open winner, and that means a lot to him. Being an American I think means a lot to him as well. I’m excited to kind of unleash him this week.”

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — Bryson DeChambeau has been the recipient of harsh criticism ahead of this week’s Ryder Cup, so United States captain Keegan Bradley went to bat for the polarizing LIV Golf star.

Bradley said he believes DeChambeau, the only U.S. player not on the PGA Tour, will be an X factor for the the Americans — not just with his play, but with the energy he is set to bring to the home crowd at Bethpage Black.

“He’s a really fiery player,” Bradley said Tuesday. “When you come to a Ryder Cup, you don’t want guys to try to be something they’re not. We have a lot of calm, mellow guys, so we need the energy from Bryson.”

Bradley’s comments came less than 24 hours after Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee ripped DeChambeau as a “captain’s nightmare” and accused the two-time U.S. Open champion of drumming up “interest for himself” by promoting his YouTube channel rather than talking about the Ryder Cup.

“Bryson plays most of his golf on a tour where he mostly could be in the witness protection program,” Chamblee said Monday during the Golf Channel’s coverage of the Ryder Cup. “Nobody watches, he doesn’t get any attention. So when he does come out, there’s a bit of a circus-barker element to it to drum up some interest for himself.”

European star Rory McIlroy also took a recent shot at DeChambeau, saying the “only way he gets attention is by mentioning other people.”

DeChambeau, when asked earlier this year about potentially facing McIlroy in the Ryder Cup after the two were paired in the final round of the Masters, said that he intended to “chirp in [McIlroy’s] ear” at Bethpage.

McIlroy responded to those comments last month during an interview with the Guardian.

“I think the only way he gets attention is by mentioning other people,” McIlroy told the Guardian. “That is basically what I think of that. To get attention he will mention me or Scottie [Scheffler] or others.”

When asked Monday by Golf Channel if he had a response to McIlroy’s comments, DeChambeau tried to take the high road.

“All I’m trying to do is inspire kids on YouTube,” DeChambeau said. “Whatever Rory says and whatnot is great. He didn’t mean anything by it. I’m excited, I hope we can have some good banter back and forth and if not and he wants to do what he’s doing, great, no problem. Crowd’s going to be on our side.”

DeChambeau is set to play in his third Ryder Cup this week after not making the team in 2023. It will mark the first time he’s playing in a Ryder Cup as a member of LIV Golf.

DeChambeau’s U.S. teammates have so far heaped praise on him this week, making note about how much he’s done to be involved with the team even though he doesn’t play on the PGA Tour.

“I was telling Keegan, I feel like Bryson could be like the difference for us in a strange way from the standpoint of feeding into these fans, the style of golf he plays,” Xander Schauffele said Tuesday. “He’s been great in the team room.”

“I think what people don’t realize, he’s made a huge effort being a part of this team, flying to team dinners, showing up weeks that he’s playing on the LIV to where we are on the PGA Tour just to be a part of that team,” J.J. Spaun added. “Given his personality and his brand, he’s great with the fans. I think that’s going to be a huge attribute to the team this week.”

Bradley noted the challenge DeChambeau faces of integrating himself into a team full of PGA Tour players, added that “he’s done an exceptional job of making the extra effort.”

Scheffler, who paired with DeChambeau in 2021 at Whistling Straits, called DeChambeau a “tremendous competitor” and a “great partner.” The world No. 1 also noted that the kind of frenzy DeChambeau will be able to create is going to play a key role in their attempt at beating the Europeans.

“He brings a lot of energy, the people love him,” Scheffler said. “I’m excited to unleash him this week.”

Wayne Rooney and Tom Bradyâ€s unexpected feud has taken a fresh, public turn.

The spat traces back to a comment made by Brady, a minority owner at Birmingham City, about Rooney, the club’s former head coach, in the Amazon Prime documentary Built in Birmingham: Brady & the Blues.

“Iâ€m a little worried about our head coach’s work ethic,†Brady said following a visit to the club’s training ground in November 2023. “I mean, I donâ€t know, I don’t have great instincts on that.â€

Rooney, who was sacked by Birmingham in January 2024 after just 83 days in charge, has now hit back at Brady in his new podcast, The Wayne Rooney Show, which airs twice weekly on BBC Sounds, YouTube, and BBC iPlayer.

Reflecting on Bradyâ€s remarks, Rooney said he was “really disappointed with the comment.â€

“I think Tom came in once, which was the day before a game where the days are a little bit lighter anyway, and I don’t think he really understood football that well,†the former England captain explained.

He added: “Football is not NFL – NFL works for three months a year. Players do need rest as well, so I think he’s very unfair, the way he’s come out and portrayed that.â€

Your move, Tom.
