PCB Complaints Against Suryakumar Yadav: While the heat turned on between the Indian and Pakistani players during their two clashes so far at the Asia Cup 2025, their cricket boards, BCCI and PCB, are now getting involved as well, landing complaints against players of the opposition.
The India vs Pakistan matches in the 2025 have been heavily marred by the political tussle and strife of the border situation between India and Pakistan, with people across genres giving their opinions and takes.
Given how influential cricket is in these two nations, and not least for the fact that both boards also include members from political parties, it is no surprise that the verbal clashes on the field have turned into a massive talking point in the two countries.
PCB Complaints Against Suryakumar Yadavâ€s “Political†Statement
As of the latest news, after BCCI lodged complaints against Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf and batsman Sahibzada Farhan, PCB filed a counter-complaint of their own, going after India captain Suryakumar Yadav for comments they believe were “political†and in breach of the ICC player code of conduct.
The BCCIâ€s complaints are from the September 21 match—in which Rauf gestured a plane crash and showed 6-0 to the fans, and Farhan did a “guns†celebration with his bat after reaching his fifty.
But, the PCBâ€s complaint against Suryakumar Yadav is for his post-match comments from the September 14 match, where he said that Team India “stand with all the victims of Pahalgam terror attacks, stand with their families, and express our solidarity,†and dedicated “the win to all our armed forces who showed a lot of bravery.â€
According to Cricbuzz, the ICC has scheduled a hearing for Thursday, September 25, for the complaints against Rauf and Farhan, while the hearing for the complaint against Suryakumar will also be held.
Earlier this year, more than two dozen Indian civilians were killed in the Pahalgam terrorist attack, which was retaliated by the Indian governmentâ€s “Operation Sindoor.†That was followed by a multi-day crossfire between the two countries.
India decided to play Pakistan in this tournament in the backdrop of boycott demands from some quarters back home. Things were triggered once Suryakumar Yadav didnâ€t shake hands with Pakistan captain Salman Agha in their group stage game, and the Indian team followed suit. The PCB then went after match referee Andy Pycroft as well.
Tensions flared among the players during their meeting in the Super 4 round, with Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill having verbal duels with Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf.
India have qualified for the final with wins over Pakistan and Bangladesh. Pakistan and Bangladesh have one win each from two games; both sides lost to India but beat Sri Lanka. They will meet on Thursday in Dubai, with the winner proceeding to the final.
