Every year, Little League programs around the world face impact from natural disasters. As communities begin the long road to recovery, we want to ensure that the fields that boys and girls play on, baseball and softball, are ready, and they have the equipment necessary when the kids are honor and memory of Orioles public relations great Monica Barlow; a youth baseball and softball field in memory of Mets public relations great Shannon Forde; a scholarship fund in memory of the late beloved baseball executive Katy Feeney; the Jackie Robinson Foundation and Negro Leagues Baseball Museum; and for the five organizations leading the fight against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), otherwise known as Lou Gehrigâ€s disease.\n\nMost recently, donations were given in support of the establishment of a new Boys & Girls Club in Uvalde, Texas – a much-needed resource for Uvalde youth MIAMI — Miamiâ€s loanDepot park became the stage on Saturday for a fundraiser to support children and communities in Latin America and the United States, thanks to a partnership between La Gente del Barrio Foundation and VG27, Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s charitable organization.

The event featured a celebrity softball game followed by a home run derby, during which the participants’ pop was on full display. And it boasted plenty of Latin American star power.

From Guerrero himself, who hosted the event, to José Ramírez, Juan Soto, Randy Arozarena, Junior Caminero, Geraldo Perdomo, Ketel Marte, Ezequiel Tovar, Teóscar Hernández and Julio Rodríguez, and such retired stars as Edwin Encarnación, Carlos Baerga and Andruw Jones, fans in attendance were treated to an impressive roster of baseball talent.

“For me, itâ€s a big achievement to be here with my teammates and to be able to put on a good event here in Miami,†said Guerrero. “The main thing is that we can help low-income children in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, all of Latin America.â€

The celebrity softball game was a true spectacle. With two teams made up of athletes and figures from the world of arts and entertainment, the game featured such standout moments as Arozarena robbing a home run, a Guerrero swing-and-miss that elicited laughs from the crowd and a great defensive play in right field by Hernández … all while holding his cell phone. Not to mention a shutout performance by retired slugger Encarnación.

“More than being here enjoying ourselves, itâ€s about the cause. … Itâ€s super important to be able to bring some kind of support to those people who need the foundation,” Hernández said. “For me, [participating] is more than a point of pride. I think [these events] are good for Latin culture and for all those people who love baseball.â€

After five scoreless innings, the softball game was decided by a mini home run derby that Caminero won. Caminero was crowned MVP, which earned him a custom event jacket in the style that Guerrero Jr.â€s Toronto Blue Jays have implemented in recent years.

A display of distance and power

Then came the main course: A home run derby featuring a group of names that would be the envy of any other competition.

Noelvi Marte, Perdomo, Caminero, Oneil Cruz, Arozarena, Ketel Marte, Guerrero, Ramírez and Carlos Santana were the protagonists, and with aluminum bats in hand, they unleashed mammoth blasts.

In the first round, two monumental shots from Caminero and one from Ketel Marte hit the loanDepot roof. Both Caminero and Ketel Marte advanced to the second round, alongside Noelvi Marte and Guerrero, who led the opening round with nine home runs.

Noelvi Marte and Guerrero made it to the final, with Marte claiming the crown (or, in this case, a commemorative jacket) after hitting five home runs compared with Guerreroâ€s two.

Prelude to the World Baseball Classic?

With so much Dominican talent in one place, it was impossible not to think about whatâ€s to come in just a few months, when loanDepot park hosts games for the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

Many of these same players will be back, but with a different aim: to clinch a second crown for the Dominican Republic. Several players were already thinking ahead on Saturday.

“There are a few [players already ready], yes,†said Hernández. “Hopefully, when the event comes, they can triumph and try to bring the championship to the Dominican Republic.â€

Added Ketel Marte: “I am ready; thank God I am well physically. The key is to get to Spring Training healthy and hope in God to continue like this and receive the invitation there.”

Even Guerrero, who came up just short of a World Series title last month, is already focused on getting in shape for the tournament.

“I started working out exactly last Monday,” he said. “Next Monday I start hitting and running. But I feel physically very good right now.â€

Ridge Holland will be donating funds raised to help him to charity following a backlash against the former WWE Superstar. On X, the former WWE NXT Tag Team Champion explained his situation.

“Thank you all for the incredible support shown through the GoFundMe campaign. However, I want to clarify that I was not aware the page was going live and had no prior discussion with the family member who created it.

“Iâ€ve since requested that no further donations be accepted, and this change should take effect within the next 24 hours. Once we figure out how to move forward and I recoup the amount donated, I will be donating said amount to charity.

“I sincerely apologize if the page caused any upset or offense — that was never the intention. Thank you for your understanding and kindness.”

Holland shared in October 2025 that his contract would not be renewed from WWE. The Welsh wrestler also shared his concerns about finances, saying that he was distressed at the idea of not being able to pay his mortgage.

Holland’s concerns about money led to the GoFundMe page being set up to help Ridge, who is currently dealing with an injury. Notable donators include new Women’s United States Champion Chelsea Green as well as AEW’s Nick Jackson.

However, the GoFundMe did receive a backlash from some who argued that Hollan should have been wiser with his money during his time in WWE. While those commenters do not know the details of Holland’s finances, Ridge has made the decision to pay back what was given. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Ridge Holland.

Larry is the very best boy, and now heâ€s a radioactive one ahead of Halloween.

The Zombie Sailor toy company announced it has produced a green, glow-in-the-dark “radioactive†Larry action figure. The Larry action figure is in stock now, and proceeds from every Larry figure sold will be donated to PAWS Chicago. The charity holds a special place in CM Punk and AJ Leeâ€s hearts, as itâ€s where they adopted Larry from in 2015.

The figure is officially licensed by CM Punk and Larry, and it is only available on http://ZombieSailor.com.

This is Larryâ€s second figure through Zombie Sailor; the original one came bundled with a retro-style CM Punk action figure after his WWE return in 2023.

Cody Rhodes previously said that Larry was “killing it†in the merch game. The dog, named after Lon Chaneyâ€s character, Larry Talbot, in The Wolf Man,has had other officially licensed merchandise, like a werewolf-themed “Itâ€s Slobberin†Time†shirt. He also has a “Larry: Best In The World†shirt on the Fanatics website that looks like it was inspired by the Victory Records “bulldog†logo.

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — As United States Ryder Cup members are set to be compensated for the first time in the event’s history, world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and several of his teammates said they are planning to donate their entire stipends to charity.

“I’ve never been one to announce what we do. I don’t like to give charitable dollars for some kind of recognition,” Scheffler said Tuesday. “We have something planned for the money that we’ll be receiving. I think it’s a really cool thing that the PGA of America has empowered us to do.”

U.S. captain Keegan Bradley said Monday that the PGA of America approached him last year with the idea of compensating players and asked him to help come up with the best approach. In November, the PGA of America voted to give the 12 players and Bradley $300,000 to donate to a charity of their choice and a $200,000 stipend to spend as they wished.

While Bradley said he didn’t understand the criticism of players being paid, Europe captain Luke Donald has said multiple times that European players rejected the idea of being paid for participating in the event.

“Every one of them was like, ‘This isn’t a week to get paid,'” Donald said Monday in an interview with Sky Sports. “We have such a strong purpose in this team and what we play for.”

Two-time major winner Xander Schauffele said he also plans to donate his stipend to charity and downplayed the chatter surrounding the money.

“You guys keep talking about it and trying to make it this negative thing. It’s whatever everyone views it as,” Schauffele said Tuesday. “There’s a lot of pride that comes into playing in one of these, and yes, we’re happy to get paid for this, and yes, I plan on donating it. It’s something that selfishly will make me feel good about what I do.”

In December, Schauffele told The Associated Press that, despite the new structure, the plan was for players not to get a single dime.

“I just see it as a whole lot of money going to charity, and we’re going to take a lot of crap,” Schauffele told the AP.

Compensation for the Ryder Cup has been a topic of much debate, going back to the 2023 event in Rome. Patrick Cantlay was asked Tuesday about his role in getting players paid by the PGA of America, but he was adamant that he was not involved.

“I wasn’t a part of that decision-making process. I don’t think any of the team members were,” Cantlay said. “I can only speak for what my plans are.”

Cantlay said he is also planning to donate all his stipend to a specific set of charities that are meaningful to him.

On the topic of the 2023 report that he did not wear a hat in Rome as protest for not being compensated, Cantlay, wearing a USA hat, smiled and said that, as he has said “a million times,” the hat didn’t fit in 2023 and this year he has received one that does fit.

“This event is very good at generating lots of noise and that’s not going to help us put points on the board,” Cantlay said. “I think we need to put 100% of our focus on playing the best golf we can and let the noise be exactly what it is, just noise.”
