A 2003-04 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Emblems of Endorsements card of Kobe Bryant recently sold for $1.22 million, including buyer’s premium, with Goldin Auctions.

It’s the third-highest public sale for a solo Bryant card of all time.

The card is autographed in blue ink, numbered 8/15 and graded near-mint 8 by Beckett Grading Services. It features two multicolored game-used patches cut from a then-No. 8 Bryant jersey.

In the same Goldin auction, the Bryant card was one of four cards to top $500,000. The others: A 2005 Topps Finest SuperFractor die-cut Tom Brady card, which sold for $704,550; a 1997-98 Skybox Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems Red Michael Jordan card, which sold for $651,334; and a 1998 Pokémon Japanese Promo Holo Illustrator Pikachu card, which sold for $610,000.

The all-time record paid for a sports card still belongs to one featuring Bryant. A one-of-one numbered, on-card autographed Bryant/Jordan Dual Logoman, purchased by Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary, mega-collector Matt Allen (better known as Shyne150 in the collecting space) and entrepreneur Paul Warshaw for $12.932 million last August.

Because of their focus on prospects (and the hunt for MLB debut patches), Topps Pro Debut, Chrome Update and Bowman Draft are three of the hottest baseball card releases of the year.

As such, many collectors were thrown off by Pro Debut coming out months later than usual this year and by Chrome Update’s Dec. 10 planned drop being almost a month later than the 2024 version.

Topps also just announced that the preorder for Bowman Draft will begin on Dec. 15, meaning its release likely won’t come until mid January when the 2024 version was released on Dec. 4.

blank

And those brands are not alone.

A Baseball America analysis of 39 annual Topps baseball brands released or announced by this time in 2024 found that the 2025 delays are hardly confined to just those three releases. In fact, nearly a third of those 39 titles are more than two months behind last year’s schedule or have not even been announced yet, and more than half are at least two weeks off of last year’s pace.

Complete brand details and dates are included below. Among BA’s findings:

  • Six annual brands whose 2024 release dates were before Oct. 1, 2024 have yet to be announced for a 2025 release
  • Six brands have had (or will have) release dates more than two months later than their 2024 release dates
  • Six brands have come out (or will come out) more than two weeks but less than two months later than their 2024 release dates, and an additional four brands that fall within that timeframe have yet to even be announced for 2025
  • Of the 17 brands that were released within two weeks of the 2024 release dates, most were flagship releases, including Series 1, Series 2, Bowman, Bowman Chrome and Topps Chrome

For our analysis, BA looked at main brands that came out in both 2023 and 2024 in order to be able to compare year-over-year release dates more easily. So, brands such as Triple Threads and Shoebox Treasures (neither of which came out in 2023) are not included here. We also did not look at any brands that fall under the “Topps Now” banner or other niche specialty releases.

Topps’ product line has been a work in progress since the company was purchased by Fanatics in early 2022. Since then, it has regained licenses with the NBA and WWE. The company does discontinue brands from time to time (whether temporarily or permanently), as was the case with Bowman Inception in 2024 and Triple Threads, which was discontinued for several years before being brought back in 2024.

It’s worth mentioning that Topps does not promise specific release dates from year to year for any products until they are made available for preorder (often a month before release). But release dates from 2023 to 2024 remained mostly constant, while the 2025 release dates have been more variable.

It’s also worth noting that this trend seems to have started with later-in-the-year brands from 2024. For example, 2024 Topps Inception did not come out until June 2025.

Topps did not respond to a request for comment.

Organized chronologically by their 2025 release date, here’s a deeper dive into what our analysis of the 39 different Topps baseball card brands found, with dates going back two years for the releases:

TNA Final Resolution 2025 is shaping up to be one of the most eventful year-end specials the promotion has delivered in years. Set to stream live on December 5, 2025, the event brings a full lineup of championship bouts, faction warfare, and grudge matches that promise a high-energy close to TNA’s PLE schedule this year.

Below is the complete match card as it currently stands:

TNA Final Resolution 2025 Match Card

Why Final Resolution 2025 Is a Must-Watch Event

Final Resolution traditionally serves as TNA’s final major show of the year, and the 2025 edition is no exception. The main event sees Frankie Kazarian defending the TNA World Championship against JDC, who enters the title match with major momentum and what may be one of his last opportunities to secure world championship gold before he retires in 2026.

The Knockouts division also takes center stage. Lei Ying Lee continues her breakout year as she defends the Knockouts World Championship against either Dani Luna or Xia Brookside, depending on who secures the challenger spot leading into the event. The Knockouts Tag Team division is just as heated, with The IInspiration set to defend against the powerhouse duo of Tessa Blanchard and Victoria Crawford.

The card also features big-profile championship defenses from Leon Slater, Steve Maclin, and the legendary Hardy Boyz, who look to maintain their grip on the Tag Team Championships against rising challengers Tyson Dupont and Tyriek Igwe.

WWE NXT has finalized the card for Saturday’s Deadline PLE in San Antonio adding two new matches, and making several other key announcements.

In new bouts added, NXT North American Champion Ethan Page will put his title on the line against Mr. Iguana from AAA. Iguana stole Page’s car from the NXT parking lot on Thursday’s show to set up the grudge match.

Also newly added, Tatum Paxley and Izzi Dame will go one-on-one at Deadline. Dame cost Paxley the NXT Women’s Championship by turning against her at NXT Gold Rush last month to lay the groundwork for the bout.

It was also announced during Tuesday’s NXT TV go-home show for Deadline that the men’s NXT Championship match with Ricky Saints defending against Oba Femi will open the PLE.

Finally, by virtue of his pinfall victory in the eight-man tag main event on Tuesday’s show, Myles Borne gets to choose his entry position in the men’s Iron Survivor Challenge bout at Deadline to crown a new number one contender to the NXT title.

WWE NXT Deadline, Saturday, December 6 —

  • Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge: Myles Borne vs. Je’Von Evans vs. Joe Hendry vs. Dion Lennox vs. Leon Slater

Are you a baseball card collector who’s ever gotten shut out of the big baseball card releases you were excited about? Or found pricing to be just too expensive? Or maybe you’re only focused on specific teams or players?

Whatever your motivation, since their explosion in popularity during the pandemic when people were looking for fun online distractions that could also create a sense of community, online baseball card breaks have become a common way for collectors to enjoy the chase of the hobby in more focused and economical ways.

If youâ€ve never tried an online break before but have been interested in giving it a shot, Baseball America’s “Breaking 101” primer is here with a look at everything you need to know.

What Is Breaking?

You’ve probably walked into a hobby shop and purchased a pack or box of cards before. Breaking, on the other hand, is a live-streamed or recorded event in which someone opens sealed boxes or cases of baseball cards on behalf of a group of buyers who have each purchased a share of the break. In this way, a collector gets a chance at pulling valuable cards—rare autographs, numbered parallels, prospects and rookies, etc.—without having to buy the whole box themselves.

The breaker running the event will sell spots—usually 15, 30, or 32, depending on format—and participants buy them, not knowing what cards theyâ€ll get. Cases are then opened on camera and cards are assigned to participants based on the type of break (more on this below).

How To Get Started In Breaking

Before we go any further, an important reminder: The information and tips you see here are from my own personal experience and should be taken as such. This is not intended to be any kind of buying advice or direction. As always, use your best judgment.

We will primarily focus on the biggest breaker in town—Fanatics Live. There are other popular break sites such as Whatnot that use similar approaches and strategies.

Getting started is as simple as setting up a Fanatics Live account. If youâ€ve ever ordered anything on Topps or Fanatics, you actually already have one. You’ll even be able to use Fancash to make break purchases in the Fanatics Live app, though you won’t earn any Fancash on money spent in the Fanatics Live app.

Once logged in, you’ll come to a main Fanatics Live page with a bunch of break options, including an MLB tab focused on baseball breaks. Click any of the options that look appealing, and youâ€ll be taken into a breaking room.

The general vibe of a breaking site, from the graphics to the personalities of the breakers, is that of a Las Vegas casino or your favorite bar. Everyoneâ€s in a good mood, time fades away and everything is designed to maximize how much you spend. As such, an important tip is to make sure you watch your budget. Online breaks are fun, but they can quickly become a financial issue if youâ€re not disciplined.

As you get started on Fanatics Live, it might be best to simply watch for a bit so that you can observe, ask questions and get a general feel for the situation. Try clicking into different rooms to compare the pricing, products, formats and hosts to see what jumps out at you.

When youâ€re ready to buy into a break, I would suggest starting small so that you can get a feel for things. In every product, there will be at least one low-cost team that will allow you to get your feet wet while still offering the potential to hit on a big card.

Below is an example of what a breaker’s “shop” might look like. Note the “PYT” indication at the top of the page—this is a clear description of what the break will be for—and then the pricing.

blank

Fanatics Live and breakers on the platform often offer discount codes or break credit for your first break. Be sure to look into that, as you might be able to get your feet wet in breaking at a significant discount.

Most breaks take the form of either a PYT (Pick Your Team) or PYP (Pick Your Player). This means that, for a product like Topps Chrome Update, rather than paying $300 for a full jumbo box, you might be able to pay $100 to get all the cards of your favorite team in an entire case or pay $40 for your favorite player.

For example, if youâ€re a Paul Skenes fan, buying the Pirates in a PYT or buying Skenes in a PYP is your best way to try to get the cards you want. Not all players are created equal, however, so names like Skenes or Aaron Judge or Shohei Ohtani and their respective teams will often cost more than others, depending on the product.

Once the break “fills†(meaning all spots are taken), the breaker will open the product on the video stream, and you’ll get to watch (and comment in the chat, if you’d like) with others as the boxes are ripped. Most breakers are also performers, and their excitement will make the experience even more entertaining and interactive.

Once the stream concludes, every card thatâ€s pulled of the specific team or player you’ve purchased will be sent to you after the break.

Types Of Breaks To Know

Beyond PYTs and PYPs, here are other kinds of breaks to know about:

Auctions

In this format, collectors know the product they’re bidding on but not the team. Most auctions will start at $1, and then once a high bid is reached, a wheel will spin, and you’ll get a random team (or player). Auctions can be a great way to luck into the most popular/expensive teams for not a lot of money. But it can also be a way to overspend on the not-so-good teams. Auctioneers will also offer the occasional “stash or pass” spots (allowing you an extra spin of the wheel if you don’t like your first option) or a “pick two, choose one” option that allows you to pick your team (or player) from two randomly-chosen ones.

Random Teams

In this format, collectors buy one of 30 spots, all at the same price. Once all 30 spots are purchased, the app will randomize the teams. So, like with auctions, it’s possible to get a huge team for less money—or it’s possible you could overpay for a lesser team.

Personals

These are often referred to as “percies” on the app. As you would expect, this is where collectors can buy their own personal box (or case), have it ripped for you and then shipped your way.

More Helpful Breaking Tips

Know your checklists.

Beckett is a great resource for narrowing down every release by team and showing every possible option for the release. This helps to illustrate why a team like the Dodgers might be more expensive in an Ohtani-heavy set but less expensive in a release like Pro Debut, which doesnâ€t have a lot of Dodgers hits on the checklist.

Case breaks are your best bet

This is a personal preference of mine. While you can buy into single or double box breaks, in my opinion, that doesn’t cast a wide-enough net for whatever team or player you’re looking for. Sure, you can still “skunk” (the breaking term for walking away with nothing) on case breaks, but they’re going to maximize your chances of walking away with something cool. Plus, they’re more fun than single-box breaks.

… as are “Breaker’s Delight” breaks.

They call ’em that for a reason. Sure, hobby and jumbo boxes might give you more total cards, but “Breaker’s Delight” breaks are a hit a minute, and you might wind up with something truly spectacular, such as the Junior Caminero Debut Patch, which was hit in a Breaker’s Delight case break on Fanatics Live last year and later sold for $66,000. (I was actually in this break, but I had the Rangers):

blank

Keep an eye out for “serials.”

Breakers will sometimes break high-priced teams (or grouped-together teams) into serials, which take the total cost of the spot and divide it into 10 equal spots, of which you can buy one or more (or none, of course). Once the “serial” is filled, the 10 spots will be randomized from 0 to 9, and you’ll get cards based on the last number of a sequentially numbered card (so a card numbered 14/99 would go to the “4” spot in the serial). Hits might also be randomly assigned at the end. Serials can be a way to buy big-time teams even more economically, but they are also even more of a gamble.

Do you want the paper base cards?

If you do buy into hobby and jumbo breaks, make sure you check whether they will be sending you the paper “base” cards as part of your purchase. Some hobby shops will only ship hits, chrome and paper rookies, but not paper veterans. Some shops even sell a “paper” spot separately from the 30 teams. And other ships will send everything for your team, including the paper base cards. Make sure you check before you buy. Some breakers that normally don’t ship paper base cards will do so if you ask.

Always negotiate!

Most of the pricing seen on breaks is suggested pricing, not final pricing. The breaker will often be open to negotiations, especially if you want to buy more than one team or player (they build this into their pricing model), or if you’re “closing out” a break (buying the last team or teams available so that the break can commence after your purchase). As always when it comes to negotiating, be willing to walk if you donâ€t get to the price point you want.

And I’ll say it again—watch your wallet.

Online breaks are really fun but can also be a hit on your wallet. Have a good time, but please do be mindful of the electric bill and rent payment!

Happy breaking!

Laurie Canter turned down a PGA Tour card and joined Saudi-backed LIV Golf for the second time. The league announced Monday he has joined the Majestiks for the 2026 season.

Canter finished at No. 7 in the Race to Dubai and was among 10 players on the European tour who earned a chance to join the PGA Tour. By joining LIV Golf, he is suspended from the PGA Tour and his card goes to Daniel Brown.

“Joining Majesticks GC is an incredible opportunity to be part of a team that has helped shape LIV Golf from day one,” Canter said in a statement.

The 36-year-old from England was an unusual case when LIV launched its league in 2022. He had limited status on the European tour and joined the Saudi-backed league to have a place to play. Canter played seven times in the inaugural year and finished 28th in the standings.

He was a reserve in 2023, filling in for injured players and competed 11 times in LIV Golf. Canter began 2024 playing twice with LIV as a reserve until he was replaced by Anthony Kim.

He returned to the European tour and won the European Open in Germany in 2024. Winning again in early 2025 in Bahrain led Canter to reaching No. 50 in the world ranking. That got him into The Players Championship, making him the first former LIV player in the tour’s premier tournament. He also made it into the Masters.

Canter joins Victor Perez of France in joining LIV Golf.

The Majestiks is an English-based team that began with Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter, Henrik Stenson and Sam Horsfield. Stenson failed to finish in the top 48 this year and was relegated, opening a spot for Canter.

“The league’s growth has been remarkable and my experience in the league has led me to become a more complete player and a multiple winner on the DP World Tour,” Canter said, referring to the corporate name of the European circuit. “To return to the league with Majesticks GC is a huge honor, and they bring a standard of excellence, ambition, and identity that really resonates with me.”

Last year, Tom McKibbin earned a PGA Tour card through the European tour and joined LIV in January. Because the season already had started, his PGA Tour card was not given to the next in line. Brown can accept it because Canter signed with LIV before the end of the year.

The Knicksare a team built on consistency. Jalen Brunson is a sure bet to score efficiently almost every night while manipulating his way into scores via pull-up jumpers. Karl-Anthony Towns has recorded a double-double in all but three games. Mikal Bridges has never missed a game in his eight-year career.

Consistency is great. But every now and then, a wild card that can change the pace or tenor of a game is needed. That wild card for the Knicks is Josh Hart. After a slow start to the season, Hart has come on as of late, and itâ€s helping the team weather injuries on the perimeter to OG Anunoby and Landry Shamet.

After beginning the season as a reserve, Hart has emerged as a starter, replacing Mitchell Robinson. He brings a jolt of energy to the game with versatility, mad dashes in transition and hustle plays.

The Knicks’ 118-109 home win over the Bucks on Friday night propelled the club into the knockout round of the NBA Cup tournament. Hart was everywhere in the victory, notching 19 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists and three steals. With Anunoby out, Hart stepped up to take on the Giannis Antetokounmpo defensive assignment despite a severe size deficit.

The performance against the Bucks has been the norm for Hart. His efficiency has picked up as heâ€s padded the entire stat sheet. In the last 13 games, he’s averaging 13.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists. He has also found the range, shooting 40.1 percent from beyond the arc during that time.

On the rebound

Hartâ€s had his ups and downs from outside throughout his career. He still needs to be aggressive as a scorer to keep defenses honest. Teams will sag off him even more if heâ€s not, mucking up driving lanes for Brunson and Towns.

He has shot better so far this season, but Hart is a career 34.2 percent three-point shooter. To weaken the Brunson-Towns pick-and-roll, many opponents put a wing on Towns while hiding their center on Hart.

In Friday’s win, the Bucks had Myles Turner guard Hart down the stretch while Antetokounmpo checked Towns. The Knicks looked to bring Turner into every Brunson pick-and-roll. As the Bucks blitzed Brunson, it allowed Hart to attack in the short roll. He had a couple of good opportunities to create. One key play was Hart finding Miles McBride for an open corner three out of a short roll.

Hartâ€s first four games were a struggle — he scored just 11 points on 4-for-19 shooting. During the spell, he was out of sorts, passing up open looks.

Itâ€s not a shock that Hart played poorly to begin the season. A back injury kept him out for most of the preseason and the season opener. A nerve injury in his right hand has also been a setback. The start of this season was an adjustment for Hart, who was coming off the bench. He started all 77 games he played in last year.

One of head coach Mike Brownâ€s goals with the Knicks was to get them to play faster and create easier scoring opportunities. Hartâ€s ability to push the pace is an underrated skill that the Knicks could use more often. They average 16.1 fastbreak points per 100 possessions when Hart is on the floor, versus just 12.8 fastbreak points per 100 possessions when he sits, per NBA Stats.

After the Knicks’ starting five of Brunson, Bridges, Anunoby, Hart and Towns crumbled in the playoffs last year, the group has looked better so far in the new season. In 40 minutes, this five-man unit is plus-24.2 points per 100 possessions, per NBA Stats. With the added playmaking from Hart, it might make sense to revisit the starting lineup permanently once Anunoby returns.

Hart can go into prolonged shooting slumps, pile up careless turnovers and make questionable decisions. But heâ€s been consistently effective over the past month. If Hart continues to play this well, it will be hard to keep him out of the starting five going forward.
