Australia vs South Africa Live Score, Women’s World Cup 2025: Australia Women opted to bowl first after winning the toss against South Africa in their final group-stage encounter, with skipper Tahlia McGrath citing the venueâ€s tendency to favor teams batting second and the improved conditions under lights. McGrath said her team was focusing on “a few little tweaks†ahead of the semifinals, aiming to build momentum with a complete performance. Australia made one change to their playing XI, bringing back leg-spinner Georgia Wareham. On Alyssa Healyâ€s fitness, McGrath maintained that her recovery remains a “day-by-day†process, though the star wicketkeeper-batter participated in training on the eve of the match.

South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt admitted she would have also chosen to bowl first, given her sideâ€s success in chases so far in the tournament. She expressed pride in her teamâ€s collective batting efforts and described the fixture as a major opportunity to challenge one of the worldâ€s best sides. Wolvaardt emphasized the occasionâ€s significance, noting that South Africa have never topped the group stage in any World Cup format. The Proteas made two changes — Nadine de Klerk and Masabata Klaas came into the XI. With both teams already familiar with each otherâ€s strengths, McGrath playfully remarked that “bragging rights are on the line†in what promises to be a competitive contest.

176.5 kmph! Did Mitchell Starc bowl the fastest ball in ODI history?PERTH, AUSTRALIA – OCTOBER 19: Mitchell Starc of Australia reacts while players walk from the field as rain halts play during game one of the One Day International series between Australia and India at Perth Stadium on October 19, 2025 in Perth, Australia. (Photo by Paul Kane/Getty Images) In the first ODI between Australia and India, Mitchell Starc set up Virat Kohli beautifully and dismissed him for an eight-ball duck, but that wasnâ€t the highlight of his spell. Instead, it was a delivery to Rohit Sharma that took the internet by storm — Starcâ€s very first ball to the Indian skipper was clocked at a staggering 176.5 kmph, possibly the fastest ever recorded in ODI history. The speed gun graphic displayed a staggering 176.5 kph (109 mph), but it was clearly an error. Thankfully, other broadcasters†graphics later confirmed the actual speed to be 140.8 kph (just over 87 mph) — right around Starcâ€s usual pace.

Arshdeep Singh Press Conference After IND vs AUS 1st ODI: Praises Captain Gill, Backs Virat Kohli

The duo walked out to bat in Perth after seven months. The veterans, who returned to international cricket for the first time since Indiaâ€s victory at the Champions Trophy earlier this March, gave plenty of reasons for fans and experts to feel disappointed with their rough show.Rohit Sharma

Opening the innings after being put to bat first, Rohit scored only eight runs off 14 balls before Josh Hazlewood dismissed him. After the former Indian captainâ€s disappointing innings, all eyes were on Kohli, as fans hoped he would help India recover after an early loss. However, Kohli also failed to deliver and was dismissed cheaply for an eight-ball duck. It was the first time Kohli had ever been dismissed for no score in ODI cricket in Australia.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers reacted to teammate Cameron Heyward’s joke about the age of Rodgers as well as Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Flacco heading into a Week 7 matchup between the AFC North foes.

“I think it’s great for all the old guys,” Rodgers said, per ESPN’s Brooke Pryor. “I know that when I watch other sports, maybe it’s because I’m the older guy, but I tend to pull for the older guys to win championships.”

During the veteran passer’s media availability on Tuesday, Heyward called the game against the Bengals the “Icy Hot bowl.”

The upcoming clash between the two division rivals will feature the oldest current starting quarterbacks in the NFL. Rodgers is 41 years old, while Flacco is 40 years old.

They’re set to become the second pair of opposing quarterbacks of at least 40 years old to start a regular or postseason game against each other in NFL history (h/t Pryor).

Rodgers has been impressive to open his first season in Pittsburgh, completing 68.8 percent of his throws for 1,021 yards and 10 touchdowns compared to three interceptions. The Steelers sit at 4-1, owning an early lead atop the AFC North standings.

As for Flacco, he’ll make his second start for Cincinnati after he was acquired by the team in an Oct. 7 trade with the Cleveland Browns. He started the first four games of the regular season for Cleveland until he was benched on Oct. 1.

While Flacco lost his first start with the Bengals on Sunday, he still performed admirably against a Green Bay Packers squad that owns the NFL’s No. 10 scoring defense.

He finished 29-of-45 for 219 yards and two touchdowns without committing a turnover in the 27-18 loss to Green Bay.

Kickoff between the Bengals and Steelers is on Thursday at 8:15 p.m. ET.

The Super Bowl, originally called the AFL–NFL World Championship Game, is the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL) in the United States. It has been the final game of every NFL season since 1966 and is now played on the second Sunday in February. Previous Super Bowls were held in January or early February. The winning team receives the Vince Lombardi Trophy, named after the Packers coach who won the first two Super Bowls. Because the NFL controls the “Super Bowl” trademark, it is often called the “big game” by non-sponsoring companies, and the day of the event is commonly referred to as “Super Bowl Sunday.”

The game was created as part of the 1966 merger agreement between the NFL and the AFL to determine a champion between the best teams from each league. It was officially called the AFL–NFL World Championship Game until 1969, when the name “Super Bowl” was adopted. After the 1970 merger, teams were divided into the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC), and Super Bowls have since been played between the best teams from each conference. NFC/NFL has an impressive record of 30 victories, whereas AFC/AFL holds second place at 29 victories.

20 of the 32 NFL teams have won a Super Bowl, and 16 have won several championships.  The New England Patriots hold the record for the most appearances with eleven, while the Pittsburgh Steelers and Patriots have the most championships with six each.  With five losses, the Patriots and Denver Broncos are tied for the most Super Bowl losses. The only teams with two consecutive Super Bowl victories are the Tampa Bay Bucs and the Baltimore Ravens.  The Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Detroit Lions are the four teams that have never made it to the Super Bowl.

Why is the Super Bowl so popular

The Super Bowl remains one of the most popular cultural events in the United States because it combines a high-stakes, easy-to-follow sporting contest with entertainment that appeals to a wide audience. It is a single, winner-take-all event that is easy to follow, with scores and action that make sense even to casual viewers.

Fans often tune in not just for the game but for the halftime performances and commercials. Halftime shows feature top artists, while commercials have become a spectacle of their own. The turning point came with the 1984 Apple Macintosh ad, which showed that Super Bowl commercials could be cinematic and memorable. Today, a 30-second commercial costs $7 million. For the upcoming Super Bowl LX (2026), Bad Bunny will perform at the Halftime Show at Leviâ€s Stadium. He was officially announced as the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show performer on September 28, 2025.

The Super Bowl is one of the worldâ€s most-watched single sporting events and usually has the largest TV audience in the U.S. each year. Globally, it is second only to the UEFA Champions League final as the most-watched annual club sporting event. Super Bowl halftime shows feature top musical artists, and commercial airtime during the broadcast is the most expensive of the year. The event is also the second-largest day for food consumption in the U.S., with fans typically spending an average of $58 on beer, hot dogs, nachos, and other concessions.

Taylor Swift has denied a report that she turned down an offer to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon(starts at 18:21 mark), Swift explained there was no formal offer for her to perform at the event and her decision is not related to her fiancee, Travis Kelce, potentially playing in the game.

“This is nothing to do with Travis, he would love for me to do it. I’m just too locked in,” said Swift.

Swift went on to say that her representatives are close with Jay-Z and the other people with Apple Music in charge of putting together the halftime show, but they never had any real discussions about the event.

“Jay Z has always been very good to me. Our teams are very close. They sometimes will call and say how does she feel about… and that’s not an official offer or a conference room conversation. We’re always able to tell him the truth, which is that I am in love with a guy who does that sport on that actual field.”

Recording artist Bad Bunny quipped his critics “have four months to learn” Spanish while delivering his opening monologue on Saturday Night Live.

The three-time Grammy Award winner referenced his selection as the halftime performer at Super Bowl LX next February. He then teed up a carefully edited clip of Fox News personalities saying, “Bad Bunny is my favorite musician, and he should be the next president.”

Bad Bunny followed up by saying how excited he is to have the Super Bowl halftime slot before giving a message in his native Spanish.

“Especially all of the Latinos and Latinas in the world here in the United States who have worked to open doors, it’s more than a win for myself, it’s a win for all of us,” he said, as translated by People‘s Nicholas Rice. “Our footprints and our contribution in this country, no one will ever be able to take that away or erase it.”

He closed the monologue by reminding viewers how much time they have to brush up on the language before the Super Bowl.

The NFL announced on Sept. 28 that Bad Bunny will be taking the stage at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The 31-year-old is one of the most popular musicians in the world, regularly sitting near the top of Spotify’s annual streaming rankings. Combine that with the NFL’s continued efforts to expand the sport abroad, and he’s the perfect fit for the Super Bowl.

Bad Bunny’s selection is historic as he’s the first halftime performer who sings exclusively in Spanish.

England bowled South Africa out for just 69 as they made a winning start to their Women’s World Cup campaign with a ruthless 10-wicket thrashing in Guwahati.

Left-arm spinner Linsey Smith was the pick of the bowlers with 3-7, claiming the prized wickets of Laura Wolvaardt, in-form opener Tazmin Brits and Marizanne Kapp.

Sinalo Jafta was the only batter to reach double figures in a dismal batting performance which saw the Proteas bundled out for their third-lowest ODI total in just 20.4 overs.

Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt took 2-5 in her first competitive bowling spell since the Ashes, while spinners Sophie Ecclestone and Charlie Dean also picked up two wickets apiece.

Amy Jones and Tammy Beaumont then cruised to their target in 14.1 overs, having started somewhat cautiously on a tricky surface, finishing with 40 and 21 respectively.

It was a bizarre performance from South Africa on a pitch that offered a little assistance to the spinners, but far from anything extravagant, as they simply had no answers to England’s consistency.

Captain Wolvaardt was caught and bowled for five in the second over, Brits and Kapp were bowled for five and four respectively and Sune Luus was cleaned up by Lauren Bell.

Sciver-Brunt trapped Anneke Bosch lbw with her first ball as South Africa stuttered to 38-5 after the 10-over powerplay before Dean and Ecclestone comfortably cleaned up the middle and lower order.

It could prove to be a crucial win for England, giving them a significant net run-rate boost before their second game against Bangladesh on Tuesday when there is the possibility of rain.
