Shortly after his appearance during the retirement match of his father, Sting, at AEW Revolution, it became apparent that Steve Borden Jr. had gotten the itch to wrestle. After a year of training with his father’s tag team partner, Darby Allin, Borden officially scratched that itch at a New York art gallery event in October, wrestling a match that involved Allin, AEW/ROH star JD Drake and former WWE star Karrion Kross. And it appears Borden enjoyed the experience enough that he will not just be one and done with wrestling.
Fightful Select reports that Borden is set to wrestle again on November 21 for the Pacific Northwest indie promotion DEFY Wrestling, at their AEON event Washington Square Hall in Seattle, Washington. Where his first match was a tag team bout, this one will see Borden thrown into the deep end of the pool, as he’ll wrestle in singles competition against Kiran Grey. It will be Borden’s first ever match for an independent promotion.
While this match won’t directly involve Allin, and it’s unclear if he’ll even be in attendance, there remain plenty of connections to him. Allin had previously been mainstay with DEFY while wrestling on the independent scene, and has continued to make appearances for them even after signing with AEW. It was also noted that Grey, an Atlanta based wrestler who has wrestled dark matches for Ring of Honor and had previously trained at the Nightmare Factory with WWE’s Cody Rhodes and AEW’s QT Marshall, has also become a student of Allin’s recently. It’s unclear if Borden and Grey had trained together while under Allin’s tutelage.
WWE has announced three matches for the Friday, November 7 SmackDown episode.
United States Champion Ilja Dragunov will put his title on the line once again on the show in an open challenge. Dragunov defeated Nathan Frazer of Fraxiom on this week’s show in an open challenge.
Also on the card for next week’s episode, Talla Tonga will go one-on-one with Rey Fenix. Fenix challenged Solo Sikoa to a match for next week’s on Friday’s SmackDown, but Sikoa put his MFT cohort Talla Tonga in the spot instead.
Nia Jax’s issues with the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions will also continue on next week’s SmackDown, as Jax takes on Charlotte Flair. Jax faced Flair’s partner Alexa Bliss on this week’s episode in a losing effort.
Next week’s card:
WWE SmackDown, Friday, November 7 —
- Ilja Dragunov defends the United States Championship in an open challenge
- Rey Fenix vs. Talla Tonga
- Charlotte Flair vs. Nia Jax

A World Tag Team title rematch is part of the announced lineup for the Monday, November 3 WWE Raw episode.
New World Tag Team Champions AJ Styles and Dragon Lee will defend their titles against former champs Finn Balor and JD McDonagh of The Judgement Day on next week’s Raw episode. The match was agreed to in a backstage segment involving both teams on this week’s show.

Another tag team match is also set for next week, with Nikki Bella and Stephanie Vaquer to take on Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez. Perez defeated Bella on this week’s Raw, then Vaquer saved Bella from an attack from Perez and Rodriguez, a play on a similar angle from the prior week where Bella saved Vaquer.

With both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli now focusing solely on ODIs after stepping away from Tests and T20Is, speculation has naturally grown around their futures. NEW DELHI: Cricket great Sunil Gavaskar has backed Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for potential inclusion in Indiaâ€s 2027 ODI World Cup squad, praising their standout performances in the recent three-match series against Australia. Rohit finished as the top scorer of the series, while Kohli rebounded with an unbeaten 74 after two ducks.Their partnership was pivotal in Indiaâ€s commanding nine-wicket win in the third ODI. Rohit smashed a brilliant 121, and Kohli remained unbeaten on 74 as the pair shared a 168-run stand.
India vs Australia: Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma rewrite history at SCG
“The moment they made themselves available for this trip, it was clear they want to be there for the 2027 World Cup,” Gavaskar said. “And irrespective of what happens between now and then — whether they score runs or not — with the ability and experience they possess, if they’re available, they’ll be certainties in the squad. With this kind of form, you can write their names straight into the World Cup squad for South Africa 2027.”With both Rohit and Kohli now focusing solely on ODIs after stepping away from Tests and T20Is, speculation has naturally grown around their futures.Their recent performances ensured India avoided a series whitewash, claiming a consolation win in the third ODI.”Always love coming here and playing here. Fond memories of 2008. I’m not sure if we’ll be coming back to Australia, but we enjoy our cricket no matter what accolades we achieve,” Rohit said after collecting both the Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards.Rohit also reflected on the challenges of the Australian tour, adding, “We started afresh in Perth — that’s how I look at things.”Gavaskar reiterated that Rohit and Kohliâ€s decision to play in the Australia series highlighted their intent to stay in contention for the 2027 World Cup, insisting that their inclusion would be automatic if they remain available.
WWE has a lot on the schedule, and next weekâ€s SmackDown will go around the planet to bring an exciting night of action.
The October 3 episode of WWE SmackDown went down at the Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. The WWE SmackDown event on October 10, 2025, will be held at the RAC Arena in Perth, Western Australia, and fans will have quite a show in store for them.
WWE already has a big reason to tune into SmackDown next week. Damian Priest had a backstage segment, where he continued his feud with Aleister Black. Needless to say, he wants to put an end to things.
In the end, Priest was challenged to a last man standing match next week on SmackDown. That should be a violent match, and anything is on the table with those two.
Next weekâ€s SmackDown in Perth will also include The Street Profits finally getting another shot at the WWE Tag Team Titles. They will face the Wyatt Sicks, and the stable born out of Bray Wyattâ€s vision interrupted a backstage promo from Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford this week to send a very threatening message about family.
Sami Zayn will also put his WWE United States Title on the line in another Open Challenge match. Also, Giulia and Kiana James will take on Stephanie Vaquer and Tiffany Stratton. This match was booked during the contract signing this week.
Whatâ€s your take on WWEâ€s plan for SmackDown next week? Do you think that Crown Jewel will shake things up? Let us know what you think in the comments section!

WWE may have a massive surprise set for tonight, along with a big change that looks to have gimmick match implications. Officials are finalizing plans for this week’s loaded SmackDown with the latest build to Crown Jewel, and new plans are being revealed along with potential spoilers.
Crown Jewel VII on October 11 is scheduled to feature WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton of SmackDown vs. Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer of RAW. The first-time-ever match will be for the WWE Women’s Crown Jewel Championship, won last year by inaugural champion Liv Morgan.
The Blonde Bombshell was previously announced for tonight’s SmackDown from Cincinnati, to address Crown Jewel and last week’s successful-but-controversial title defense over Nia Jax and Jade Cargill. Rumors on a potential confrontation picked up this afternoon when Vaquer was spotted in The ‘Nati.
The Dark Angel is now official for tonight’s SmackDown. WWE has announced that Vaquer and Stratton will participate in a contract signing on tonight’s show to make their Crown Jewel showdown official.

WWE previously announced Damian Priest for tonight’s SmackDown. No opponent was named, but the official blue brand preview had Priest wrestling a match in Cincinnati tonight, and that segment was still being advertised as of mid-afternoon.
The Archer of Infamy has since been pulled from the official WWE website preview for tonight. However, Priest spoke with TMZ Sports and revealed plans to issue a challenge to Aleister Black. This comes amid rumors on Priest vs. Black in a Last Man Standing match at Crown Jewel.
Potential MFT Spoiler For WWE SmackDown
Solo Sikoa recently began re-introducing his MFT stablemates. After a vignette on Tonga Loa aired, last week’s SmackDown included a promo with Sikoa and JC Mateo. Talla Tonga is now rumored for a vignette as PWInsider reports that he has been spotted in Cincinnati ahead of tonight’s SmackDown.
The former Hikuleo signed with WWE in July 2024, but did not debut until this past June. He joined The Bloodline, and was re-packaged as Talla Tonga in MFT with Sikoa, Mateo, Loa, and Tama Tonga, who is also expected to return soon.
Talla last wrestled on TV in early August as he and Mateo defeated The Motor City Machine Guns on SmackDown. Talla, Tonga, and Solo then were defeated by The Usos and Jacob Fatu on August 27 at a non-televised event in England, but the 4-time NJPW champion has not wrestled since then.
WWE has also announced the following for tonight’s SmackDown from the Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati: United States Champion Sami Zayn will defend in an Open Challenge, Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton vs. Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, The New Day will be in attendance.

WWE has booked two high-profile matches for next month, both of which are Champion vs. Champion.
At Crown Jewel: Perth, the main events are WWE Champion Cody Rhodes vs. World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, and Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer vs. Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton.
Meanwhile, not long ago, Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio dethroned El Hijo del Vikingo to become AAA Mega Champion, bringing the AAA title into WWE. On that note, NXT North American Champion Ethan Page received a challenge at No Mercy.
AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo Del Dr Wagner Jr told Page that he will see him soon, signaling a future Champion vs. Champion match.

At NXT No Mercy, Ethan Page defeated Tavion Heights to retain the NXT North American Championship. Page continues his reign at 122 days, as he has positioned himself as an important figure in the former black-and-gold brand. But will he make the jump to the main roster sooner rather than later?
Another interesting story revolving around Page was his association with former Women’s United States Champion Chelsea Green, one that even WWE has paid heed to. Internally, there have been discussions to unite them on the main roster. It remains to be seen if WWE takes this direction.
The WWE NXT and TNA partnership is still going very strong.
TNA Wrestlingâ€s Victory Road 2025 pay-per-view was quite a show, and it ended with a major piece of news. During the main event of TNA Victory Road, Leon Slater defended the TNA X-Division Championship against Myron Reed of The Rascalz.
The match had several near falls. Both wrestlers hit big moves, and fans were really into the main event contest. Although Reed did not win the title, he earned respect from the crowd.
After the match, Santino Marella came to the ring. He praised both Slater and Reed. Then he made an announcement.
The TNA Director of Authority said he had been in talks with NXT all day. He confirmed a cross-promotional match. At Bound For Glory, Leon Slater will defend his title against Jeâ€Von Evans. Evans then appeared on the screen, and then he cut a promo for the match.
Evans has made appearances across multiple promotions. Earlier that night, he answered Sami Zaynâ€s U.S. Open Challenge on WWE SmackDown. He did not win but made an impact, no pun intended.
TNA Bound For Glory will take place on Sunday, October 12, 2025. The event will be held at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts. Only time will tell if we see another NXT Superstar with a TNA Title.
Whatâ€s your take on Jeâ€Von Evans getting an X-Division Title match? Do you think that he will win in the end? Let us know what you think in the comments section!

AEW has announced three matches for the sixth anniversary episode of Dynamite set for Wednesday, October 1.
In trios action, Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Daniel Garcia of The Death Riders will take on AEW World Champion Hangman Adam Page, Samoa Joe, and Powerhouse Hobbs on next week’s Dynamite. The match was made official during this week’s show.
Moxley is feuding with Darby Allin, who challenged Mox to an I Quit match at WrestleDream in the closing segment on this week’s Dynamite.
Another bout for next week’s Dynamite anniversary came out of this week’s show-closing angle, as Kris Statlander and Allin will face Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir in a mixed tag. Yuta has been trying to recruit Statlander to The Death Riders, but Statlander convincingly turned him down on Dynamite by hitting him with a lariat before escaping through the crowd.
TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher is also set to defend his title against Hologram in a title vs. streak matchup on next week’s show. Hologram is undefeated in AEW since debuting with the gimmick in July 2024.
The reunited Jurassic Express duo of Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus will also appear on next week’s anniversary episode.
