Quinn Ewers steps up as Dolphins†QB backup (Image via: Getty images) The Miami Dolphins are making a bold quarterback move ahead of their Week 7 clash against the Cleveland Browns. Tua Tagovailoa remains the starter, but rookie Quinn Ewers will now serve as his backup, replacing Zach Wilson. Miami is preparing for a challenging game in Clevelandâ€s windy, wet conditions while testing their quarterback depth.
Quinn Ewers confirmed as Dolphins†backup to Tua Tagovailoa for Week 7
According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Quinn Ewers will be active as the backup to Tua Tagovailoa for the Dolphins†matchup against the Browns. Zach Wilson has been moved to the third-string role. This marks Ewers†first time active in an NFL game, highlighting Miamiâ€s confidence in the rookieâ€s ability to step up under pressure. The move also gives Ewers a chance to make his NFL debut in a potentially high-stakes environment.Ewers, who played his final season at Texas, threw for 3,472 passing yards with 31 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, leading the SEC in touchdown passes. In the Dolphins†preseason, he went 23-of-43 for 273 yards and two touchdowns, taking four sacks but committing no turnovers. These performances signal that Ewers is ready to contribute when called upon.

Miamiâ€s $6 million offseason signing, Zach Wilson, is now the third-string quarterback. This season, Wilson completed 29-of-45 passes for 327 yards, one touchdown, and seven sacks, avoiding turnovers. The Dolphins†decision to prioritize Ewers reflects their focus on building depth and evaluating rookie talent for long-term success. With Tua Tagovailoa starting and Ewers as the backup, Miami is prepared for any scenario in Cleveland. The windy and wet conditions could make the quarterback position crucial if a substitution is required. This move also gives Ewers a chance to make an early NFL impact and shows Miamiâ€s strategic approach to managing their quarterback room. The Dolphins†Week 7 quarterback change demonstrates the teamâ€s commitment to preparing for adversity and developing rookie talent. Afghanistan’s captain Rashid Khan (AP Photo/Ricardo Mazalan, File) Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan has removed Lahore Qalandars from his social media bio, following his countryâ€s decision to withdraw from the upcoming tri-nation T20I series in Pakistan. The withdrawal comes in protest against recent Pakistani airstrikes in Afghanistan, which reportedly killed eight civilians, including three young cricketers.
Rashid Khan X handle
Rashid, widely regarded as one of Afghanistanâ€s most influential cricketers, had previously listed all his major teams on X (formerly Twitter), including the national side, Gujarat Titans in the IPL, Adelaide Strikers in the BBL, and Lahore Qalandars in the PSL. The latest update now shows the Qalandars removed, leaving only his IPL and BBL affiliations alongside the Afghanistan national team.
Pak-Afghan Border Clash: Airstrike Kills 3 Afghan Cricketers, ACB and Rashid Khan Blast Islamabad
The change followed a strongly worded statement from Rashid condemning the airstrikes and expressing support for the Afghanistan Cricket Boardâ€s (ACB) decision to pull out of the series scheduled in Lahore from November 17 to 29. The tri-series was to feature Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe.
Rashid Khan post on X
“I am deeply saddened by the loss of civilian lives in the recent Pakistani aerial strikes — a tragedy that claimed women, children, and young cricketers aspiring to represent Afghanistan on the global stage,†Rashid wrote on X. “These unlawful actions are a grave violation of human rights. I fully support the ACBâ€s decision to withdraw. Our national dignity must come first.â€The ACB confirmed that the three cricketers killed in the attacks — Kabeer, Sibghatullah, and Haroon — were from Paktikaâ€s Urgun district, while seven others were injured.Afghan players have expressed strong reactions to the incident. All-rounder Gulbadin Naib posted: “This brutal act by the Pakistani army is an assault on our people, pride, and independence, but it will never break the Afghan spirit.â€The move by Rashid Khan, both in public statements and his bio update, underscores the growing tension and the emotional toll of the attacks on Afghan cricket, as the team takes a firm stand on national dignity and respect for the lives lost.
WWE star Blake Monroe, previously Mariah May, subtly took a shot at AEW.
Mariah May was among the AEW stars who recently jumped ship to WWE, joining the likes of Ricky Saints, Ethan Page, Lexis King, and Shawn Spears. After parting ways with All Elite Wrestling in May this year, she debuted as a superstar in May as a member of the NXT roster, now going by Blake Monroe.
The former All Elite star made her in-ring WWE debut in July and has since feuded with former tag team partner Jordynne Grace and currently with the Women’s North American and Speed Champion Sol Ruca.
Safe to say, the former Mariah May has been doing well as a WWE Superstar, and her recent comments have clearly reflected these sentiments.
What Comment Did WWE Star Mariah May Say That May Have Been A Dig At AEW?
The former Mariah May appeared on The Ringer Wrestling Show’s The Masked Man Show and discussed her early beginnings as part of the NXT roster, stating that she was learning a lot from the coaches and fellow superstars themselves.
Later in the conversation, Blake Monroe was asked if she always planned to wrestle in the developmental brand or if it was more of a “make the best of the situation” type of deal. The superstar answered that she has no problems starting in NXT, which she noted was the highest-viewed show she has ever been featured on.
I mean, NXT’s got the highest viewership of any show I’ve been on.”
The former Mariah May further explained that being in NXT gives her more exposure to fans who are unfamiliar with her, giving her a better chance of success once she goes to the main roster with top superstars and former champions like Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair.

Sometimes it takes an expert’s eye to see something before everyone else does, such as Tyler Herro finishing No. 13 on the Player Rater, or Ivica Zubac putting up 16.8 PPG and 12.6 RPG, like each of them did last season.
How many people saw this coming?
If you did, you had a major leg up on the competition in your fantasy basketball leagues — that’s for sure!
With that in mind, we gathered our fantasy basketball experts — André Snellings, Eric Moody, Eric Karabell, Jim McCormick and Steve Alexander — and tasked them with detailing their boldest fantasy predictions for 2025-26.
Brandon Miller will finish in the top 40 on the Player Rater
Play the No. 1 fantasy game for free
Create or join a fantasy basketball league on ESPN. Your championship run starts today!
Currently going 85th on average in ESPN live drafts, Miller’s coaching staff already trusts him to find his own shot, and his ability to create offense for others is only growing. With the potential to loft an absurd number of 3-pointers per game and his knack for amassing defensive numbers, he could follow the Trey Murphy III path to becoming a special 3-and-D fantasy wing as early as this season. Few players his size are this skilled at both slashing and shooting, making Miller an outlier at his position. — McCormick
Joel Embiid and Kawhi Leonard will both finish top 50 in fantasy points this season, and at least one of them will finish in the top 20
Embiid and Leonard are both ultra-elite fantasy hoops performers on a per-game basis that have a history of missing significant quantities of time. Last season, they missed a combined 108 of the possible 164 games. But I look for this season to be bounce-backs for both. Both are entering the season relatively healthy and all it would take is 60-65 games at their typical levels to reach these milestones. — Snellings
Four Celtics will finish among the top 10 in made 3-pointers this season, even with Tatum out
Editor’s Picks

No team has attempted and made more 3-pointers than last season’s Boston Celtics, and that will hardly change just because star Jayson Tatum is out for most, if not the entirety, of the season. Four Celtics — Payton Pritchard, Derrick White, Anfernee Simons and Sam Hauser — will finish among the top 10 in 3s made this season, while a fifth (leading scorer Jaylen Brown) will come close. — Karabell
Matas Buzelis will be a top-25 fantasy player
I foresee the Bulls starting him and giving him around 30 minutes per game, and his stat set is built for fantasy, hopefully providing blocks, steals, 3-pointers, rebounds and blocks. He’s being ignored until later in drafts after last season’s less-than-stellar numbers, but he has as much upside as almost any player in this year’s drafts. I’m trying to get him everywhere. — Alexander
LaMelo Ball plays more than 70 games
Ball has elite fantasy upside when he’s on the floor. Everyone knows that. He averaged 25.2 PPG, 7.4 APG, 4.9 RPG and 3.8 3-pointers last season, showing his all-around impact. The issue has always been health, with just 105 games played over the past three seasons. I think this is the season Ball plays more than 70 games. He is only 24, is fully recovered from ankle and wrist surgeries, and Charlotte’s added depth should help manage his workload. If he stays on the court, he has top-15 fantasy potential. — Moody
India’s Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli (PTI Photo/Arun Sharma) Australian batter Travis Head has praised Indian cricket stars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma ahead of the first ODI in Perth on Sunday. He acknowledged them as two of the best white-ball players, with Kohli being considered the greatest and Rohit following closely behind. The upcoming cricket series between India and Australia includes three ODIs and five T20Is. The ODI matches are scheduled for Sunday, October 23, and October 25, followed by T20Is from October 29 to November 8. The 2027 World Cup will take place in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
Massive crowd for Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma at Delhi airport as Team India leave for Australia
“They have been awesome for India, probably Axar can speak more highly about them than myself. But two quality players, two of the best white-ball players. Virat is probably the greatest white-ball player. Rohit is not that far behind,” Travis Head told the reporters.”Someone who opens the batting. I have huge regard for what Rohit has been able to do. I am sure they will be missed at some stage, but I think they both are going until 2027. They both are trying to get to the World Cup. It is great for the game that they are still playing,” he added.Head expressed admiration for Sharma’s batting approach and considers him one of the best players. He values the opportunity to learn from Rohit’s game, particularly since they both share the opener’s position.”It’s nice just watching from a far from someone who plays the game in a similar way, I think, and having played a lot against him in IPL and a lot of international cricket against him, I feel like he goes the right way about things. Having someone to open the batting in a similar position, why not watch the best and learn from the best?”Indian all-rounder Axar Patel showed confidence in both Kohli and Rohit’s abilities for the upcoming series.”They are world-class players. They know what to do, and they are ready to go. They are professionals and they know what to do. They are ready to go. If you speak about their form, they have been preparing well, hence I think they are ready. Everyone has given their fitness Test, they are raring to go now,” he said. Both players will return to wearing the Indian jersey for the first time since the ICC Champions Trophy Final this year.Rohit and Kohli have shown exceptional performance since India’s last bilateral series against Australia before the 2023 ODI World Cup.Rohit has scored 1,137 runs in 23 ODIs at an average of 49.43 and a strike rate of 123.45. His record includes two centuries and seven fifties, with a highest score of 131.During the 2023 World Cup at home, Rohit finished as the second-highest run-scorer with 597 runs in 11 innings. He maintained an average of 54.27 with one century and three fifties, striking at over 125.In the undefeated ICC Champions Trophy campaign, Rohit contributed 180 runs in five innings, including a crucial 76 in the final against New Zealand.Virat Kohli has accumulated 1,154 runs in 22 matches during this period. He maintains an average of 64.11 with a strike rate of 88.56, including four centuries and nine fifties, with his highest score being 117.
It’s been several weeks since the Americans’ gut-wrenching 15-13 loss to the Europeans at the 2025 Ryder Cup, but conversations about what the U.S. team can do better in 2027 and beyond continue.
On this week’s episode of Subpar, sports-world mainstay Trey Wingo offered a number of takes, highlighted by a particularly bold idea that he believes can help the U.S. team in future Ryder Cups.
“It matters more to them,” Wingo said of the Europeans. “It just does. The first thing I would do is something that Colt and I have talked about on my show: I’d get rid of the Presidents Cup. That’s the first thing I would do.
Team USA’s Ryder Cup dilemma? Justin Rose thinks they have it all wrong

“Like, it’s not competitive. It’s just a money-maker for the PGA Tour, and we care, kind of, because we like to win. The Europeans get two years to to get into a lather about this, and we go through this banal, meaningless exhibition. And I’m happy for the Mike Weirs of the world and all the Australian players and the Koreans and the Canadians that get a chance to have this format. That’s wonderful. It’s not the Ryder Cup, OK? It’s not close, it’s not the same thing.”
Wingo suggested implementing a U.S. event that is geared toward additional investment in the Ryder Cup, similar to the Seve Trophy, a Ryder Cup-style match-play team event that was played in Europe in non-Ryder Cup years.
“Basically, a program to get people to care about the Ryder Cup, to get it to be ingrained in their system,” Wingo said.
More reps in team match-play formats would also benefit the Americans, Wingo added.
“The other thing we gotta figure out is how come we don’t play well with each other, right?” he said. “We’re decent in four-ball, we’re OK in singles. We’re not as dominant as we used to be in singles. We gotta figure out a way to play better together. We’ve got to find a way to create cohesive teams that work together better in alternate shot, because that’s killing us.”

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma of India (Photo by Gareth Copley/Getty Images) Former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop has shared his insights on whether Indian cricket veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli could feature in the 2027 ICC ODI World Cup, while also commenting on Shubman Gill’s captaincy future. Bishop emphasized that the veterans’ participation would depend on their motivation, fitness, and form, while suggesting that Gill requires time to develop as a captain despite showing promise.Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are set to return to international cricket in the upcoming Australia tour, having been selected for India’s ODI squad following their Champions Trophy victory earlier this year. The future of both players in the 2027 World Cup remains a subject of discussion, considering Rohit would be 40 and Kohli 39 by then.”That’s their decision. I can’t answer that for Rohit or for Virat or for the BCCI. It depends on what their determination and skill are like. They’ve been fine so far,” Bishop told PTI Videos. The discussion also centered around Shubman Gill’s recent appointment as captain, following his leadership in India’s 2-0 Test series victory against the West Indies.”He’ll be fine. Those two guys will help him along the way. He will grow in the job,” Bishop told PTI Videos. “He’s nowhere near the finished article. People have to give him that chance to grow as a captain, and as a batsman, he will grow as well.”Bishop highlighted the importance of having experienced players like Rohit and Kohli to guide Gill through his captaincy journey.”He has the temperament and the skill to lead, but the growth in captaincy and tactics is something that will take a couple of seasons to grow into. I’m sure he’ll get help from the two veterans,” Bishop elaborated. The former West Indies pacer also provided his analysis of the recent Test series between India and West Indies.Despite India’s dominant performance, Bishop identified positive developments for the West Indies team.”From a West Indian perspective, it was great to see a few of the batters spending time at the crease. The trust they showed in the pitch was excellent,” he remarked, specifically mentioning performances by Shai Hope, John Campbell, and Justin Greaves, along with spinner Jomel Warrican.Bishop concluded his observations about the West Indies team saying, “It’s not that they’ve arrived, but they’ve put some building blocks in place.”Both Rohit and Kohli’s experience and leadership will be crucial in mentoring the next generation of Indian cricket leaders, particularly as Gill develops in his new role as captain. The upcoming ODI series in Australia will provide an opportunity for this leadership transition to unfold, with the veterans supporting Gill’s development while maintaining their own performance standards.
One former Arsenal player has made the claim that manager Mikel Arteta did not want him to leave the club.
Arsenal spent big across the summer window by bringing in the likes of Martin Zubimendi, Viktor Gyokeres and Eberechi Eze, amongst others, with Arteta thrashing out the size of his squad.
But as most will know, getting new faces in requires the need to get others out, with the 23-year-old in question leaving late in the window and previously explaining how he only learnt of his exit via social media.

“I laughed at those stories because it was exactly the opposite,” said Jakub Kiwior when speaking to TVP Sport about how some had reported how Arsenal wanted to keep him.
“The club didn’t want to let me go and it took a long time for them to agree to the transfer. I was valued there; no one wanted to get rid of me. Arteta didn’t want me to leave for Portugal either, so I never felt unwanted. The decision to leave was entirely mine. I wanted to play, but with Gabriel and Saliba ahead of me, the chances were small.”

“I convinced him myself,” added Kiwior as he detailed conversations with Arteta. “I went to talk to him and explained how I saw everything. He understood my ambitions and my desire to play, and he thanked me for how I behaved as both a person and a player.”
“He accepted my reasoning, spoke with the sporting director, and things moved quickly after that,” the defender added. “It was FC Porto who convinced me. At one point, they were calling every day. They fought hard and never gave up, even after several rejections from Arsenal.
“They showed how much they cared, so I decided to bet on them. I had many offers, but when I saw Jan Bednarek had joined, I told myself: if it works out, it will be great, and it really is.”

FourFourTwo notes that Kiwior was right in understanding that breaking up Saliba and Gabriel’s partnership was going to be tough, and at 25, playing regular first-team football remains a priority.
Given he is only on loan with Porto, there is still a chance he could have a career at the Emirates, should he impress in Portugal this season.
NXT tag team impresses everyone with their SmackDown outing.
Earlier tonight on the October 3rd episode of SmackDown, fans witnessed the surprising arrival of NXT stars, Sol Ruca and Zaria, on the blue brand. The pair, seeking an opportunity for the tag-team title, were seen this week in the locker room with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis regarding a tag-team championship opportunity.
However, they were interrupted by Alba Fyre and Chelsea Green, who had lost a title match to Bliss and Flair two weeks before. The former Women’s US Champion offered Ruca and Zaria a chance to be in her Secret Hervice owing to Piper Niven’s injury hiatus.
Rejecting the proposal, the duo set up a match against Green and Fyre tonight on SmackDown. They effectively won later in the night. While this marked Sol Ruca’s second SmackDown match, it was Zaria’s official debut on the blue brand.
Ruca has been receiving a tremendous push in the promotion. With her current status as a dual champion and a possible tag-title bout soon, she has impressed both the fans and the management in her short reign as a pro-wrestler.
