India has defeated Bangladesh in a Super Fours match of the Asia Cup 2025 by 41 runs. With this win, the defending champions have qualified for the final.
India vs Bangladesh in the Super Fours of the Asia Cup 2025 was played at the Dubai International Stadium, with Bangladesh winning the toss and deciding to bowl first, something which has been a trend in this tournament.
India vs Bangladesh: India Qualifies For Final With Win Over Bangladesh
India actually got off to a strong start to their inning, with the opening pair of Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma scoring 72 runs in the powerplay. While Gill scored a relatively conservative 25 off 17, Abhishek caught fire from the very beginning, making 46 off 19 in the first six overs.
However, a collapse started when, in the seventh over, Shubman Gill was dismissed by Rishad Hossain. Shivam Dube then came in, having been promoted to No. 3 to keep the pace of scoring up. However, in the ninth over, he became Hossainâ€s second wicket of the day, getting out after making two runs.
India made 96 runs in the first 10 overs, mostly thanks to Abhishek Sharma, who had scored a half-century at a strike rate higher than 200. By the time he was dismissed via run-out in the 12th over after making 75 off 37, the team score was 112/3. It seemed that the Indian Cricket Team would aim to go past 200 runs. However, that was not in the cards.
In the very same over, Captain Suryakumar Yadav got out after making five off 11. With India four wickets down in 12 overs, the incoming Hardik Pandya decided to put the shutter down and anchor onto the pitch. For the remaining eight overs, Hardik stayed on strike, surrounded by a shifting cast of batters.
First, Tilak Varma made five off seven, and then Axar Patel scored a slow 10 off 15. Pandya stayed on the crease till the last ball of the innings, having scored 38 off 29. India, having scored at a pace of 12 rpo in the powerplay, ended their inning at 168/6 in 20 overs.
In response, Bangladesh saw one of their wickets fall super early, as opener Tanzid Hasan got out for one in the second over, having been dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah. But then, Saif Hassan and Parvez Hossain Emon ensured that no other wicket fell in the powerplay, taking the score to 44 runs in six overs.
Immediately after the end of the powerplay, Emon got out for 21 off 19. Towhid Hridoy got out soon after scoring seven off 10. Shamim Hossain scored a duck, while the captain for the day, Jaker Ali, scored only four.
With the score 87/5 in the 13th over, the Bangla Tigers were in trouble. However, they had hope in Saif Hassan, who stood firm at one end. Despite that, wickets kept falling at the other end. Mohammad Saifuddin for four, Rishad Hosain for two, Tanzim Hasan Sakib for a golden duck, and Nasum Ahmed for four.
By the time Saif was dismissed for 69 off 51, the score was 116/9 in the 18th over, and the match was done and dusted. Bangladesh got all out for 127 runs in the 20th over, losing the game by 41 runs.
For his blistering inning while opening the Indian innings, Abhishek Sharma was the obvious choice for the Player of the Match award.
As for the Men in Blue, after winning this India vs Bangladesh match, having already defeated Pakistan in the Super Fours, they have qualified for their second consecutive Asia Cup final. They will now face Sri Lanka in their last game of this round.
As for Bangladesh, they still have a chance of making it into the final. After defeating Sri Lanka in their first Super Fours match of the Asia Cup 2025, they now just need a win against Pakistan in their third and final game.

Defending champions India booked their spot in the Asia Cup final with a 41-run victory over Bangladesh.
The win moves India, who are yet to lose a match, two points clear at the top of the table while also eliminating Sri Lanka, who have lost their first two matches in the Super Fours.
Pakistan and Bangladesh, level on two points, face each other in the penultimate group match on Thursday, with the result determining who will join India in the final.
Batting first in Dubai, opener Abhishek Sharma scored his second half-century in as many matches to kickstart India’s innings.
He dominated an explosive first-wicket stand with Shubman Gill, amassing 46 (19) in the powerplay alone. He went on to score 75 (37), including six fours and five sixes, before being run out in the 12th over.
His dismissal – India’s third – sparked a mini collapse as they lost 3-17 in 3.3 overs before all-rounder Hardik Pandya steadied the ship with 38 (29) to set Bangladesh a target of 169.
Bangladesh opener Saif Hassan posted a brisk half-century of his own, top-scoring with 69 (51), including five sixes.
However, he lacked support, with Parvez Hossain Emon (21 off 19) the only other player to reach double figures.
Kuldeep Yadav picked up 3-18 and Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy shared two wickets apiece as Bangladesh were bowled out for 127 in the final over.
Asia Cup: India bank on spin vs Bangladesh; Suryakumarâ€s men must fix fielding flaws | Cricket News
Team India (Pic credit: BCCI) DUBAI: Slow, lethal spin could well be the order of the day when India face Bangladesh in their second Super-4 clash on Wednesday. On paper, India are runaway favourites — 17 wins to Bangladesh’s solitary success tell the story. Add to that the ruthless way Suryakumar Yadav’s men dismantled opponents and the odds of a Bangladesh upset look slimmer than snowflakes in the Emirates. But cricket isn’t played on paper, and Phil Simmons wants his players to believe exactly that. The former West Indies batting allrounder and now Bangladesh head coach threw down the gauntlet on the eve of the clash.Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW!“Every team has the ability to beat India. The game is played on the day. It’s not what India did before — it’s what happens on Wednesday, during that three-and-a-half-hour period. We will try to play as best as we can and hope to force mistakes in India’s armoury. That’s the way we win games,†Simmons told reporters.Bangladesh though have a headache as their skipper Litton Das looks doubtful for the match as he suffered a sidestrain during training. They have not nominated a vicecaptain for the tournament.

Who do you think will win the Super-4 clash between India and Bangladesh?
Both teams come armed with quality slow bowling. India’s trio of Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, and Axar Patel will look to squeeze Bangladesh in the middle overs, while Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, and leggie Rishad Hossain — if picked — could be the Tigers’ trump cards.Interestingly, Bangladesh got the better of a strong Sri Lankan side by relying on their three quicks — Shoriful Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, and the wily Mustafizur Rahman.Mustafizur, with years of experience behind him, can control the game in the middle overs, as he showed against Sri Lanka. The leftarm seamer picked up a brilliant 4 for 20 in that match. Mahedi was the other standout performer, returning figures of 2 for 25.India might be winning — but they aren’t flawless. Their catching against Pakistan was all over the place, with four straightforward chances put down — lapses that could have been costly against a sharper opponent.
‘He’s the best man for the job’: Ryan ten Doeschate on Sanju Samson’s new role
Suryakumar knows Bangladesh can’t be offered similar charity. “We have done a lot of fielding practice. It can’t be an excuse. If the catches are gone, they are gone. We go back to the drawing board, do a good session again, and then we come back and play the game,†Surya said after the Pakistan match.Another talking point is Jasprit Bumrah’s returns. The spearhead has leaked 33 runs from his third over across the last three games and went wicketless against Pakistan, conceding 45 from four overs — his third-most expensive T20I outing.Surya may have to rethink frontloading Bumrah’s overs, perhaps holding one back for the middle overs and one at the death. Surya, however, maintained that Bumrah is far from struggling. “Not really. He has played a lot of T20 cricket for India and in the IPL. He is experienced enough to understand what is needed from him. He is a good learner. When he is on the field, he is always active, always has that lovely body language, spreads that positive energy. That’s what we want — a senior bowler coming into such games and delivering for the side,†he said.If there is one area where India look near-invincible, it is their batting. Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill shredded Pakistan’s attack with a sterling 105-run opening stand, and the rest of the batting order has adapted well to the conditions.India will want to keep the momentum rolling as the tournament heads into its business end, while the Tigers come into the clash with their tails up. With the Dubai International Stadium pitch easing out and chasing sides enjoying success, expect fireworks under the lights — and a stern test of whether India can stay flawless when it matters most.
NEW DELHI: Bangladesh head coach Phil Simmons has sent a strong message ahead of Wednesdayâ€s Asia Cup Super Fours showdown against reigning world champions India, insisting that no team, including his ‘Tigersâ€, should be intimidated by the star-studded opposition.Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW!“Every team has the ability to beat India,†said Simmons, who played for the West Indies in the late 1980s and â€90s. “The game is played on the day. It’s not what India has done before. It’s what happens on Wednesday. It’s what happens during that three and a half hour period. We will try to play as best as we can and hope to find chinks in India’s armoury. That’s the way we win games.â€Bangladesh enter the clash on the back of a morale-boosting victory over Sri Lanka in their first Super Fours match, a rare highlight in a format where they have historically struggled. Simmons wants his team to soak in the electric atmosphere at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, remain focused, and enjoy the challenge.

Can Bangladesh defeat India in the upcoming Asia Cup match?
“Every game, especially games involving India, have a hype because they’re the number one T20 team in the world. There must be a hype. We’re just going to ride on the hype. We’re going to enjoy the moment and enjoy the game,†he said.Assessing conditions, Simmons described the Dubai track as excellent for batting, downplaying the impact of the toss. “I didn’t see much of a difference in the wicket over the 40 overs. The wicket was really good to bat. Bowlers had to bowl properly. I don’t think the toss has that much of an effect,†he said.
‘He’s the best man for the job’: Ryan ten Doeschate on Sanju Samson’s new role
Acknowledging the challenges of back-to-back T20 games in the September heat, Simmons praised his squadâ€s preparation. “It is extremely difficult to play back-to-back T20 matches, back-to-back ODIs. But again we are prepared, we have trained really hard. I think the guys are fit enough to handle it,†he added. On strategy, Simmons emphasised consistency over risk-taking in T20 cricket. “Since I’ve been here, we’ve tried to make sure that this is the way we want to play. And we’ve picked the correct players to play that way. And so far, it’s benefitted us.â€Even amidst intense scrutiny and criticism from passionate Bangladeshi fans, Simmons remains unshaken. “As long as I’m confident and my staff and myself, including the captain, are confident in what we’re doing, then criticism is like water off a duck’s back,†he concluded.
