Former WWE Women’s Tag Champion Dakota Kai was released from the company in April, among others. The former Damage CTRL member has been fairly quiet since then, outside of an initial response to her release. She hasn’t wrestled since her last bout for WWE, which took place in March on an episode of “WWE Main Event.” However, a story on Instagram might shed some light on her future.
According to an Instagram story from Wicked Lester Clothing, the wrestling gear designer is hard at work on some kind of outfit for Kai, sharing a video of chiffon pink material, and other athletic material.
“Under construction for @Iamkingkota,” Wicked Lester Clothing wrote, tagging the former WWE NXT Women’s Tag Champion in the post. Wicked Lester has made gear for the likes of Shotzi Blackheart, Rhea Ripley, and other stars. Her most recent Instagram post even hyped up gear she hand-painted for Ivy Nile.
There is no word on what Kai’s next move is, but based on the gear material, she is not done with wrestling. Kai had a long career on the independent scene as Evie before joining WWE in 2016, including work in promotions like Shimmer and World Wonder Ring Stardom, where she was the Artist of Stardom Champion alongside Hiroyo Matsumoto and Kellie Skater, the Stardom equivalent of a trios championship. April was not Kai’s first release from WWE, as she was initially released in 2022, following the expiration of her contract, but was brought back just months later.
Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Brown took up an unlikely yet comical role off the court.
Editor’s Picks
Ahead of the Celtics’ season opener Wednesday, Brown served as a pre-audition guest judge as part of comedian Druski’s “Coulda Been Records” Boston auditions.
Brown particpated in a role similar to that of Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson — who made an appearance in May — as the decision-maker to determine if contestants should advance to the next round of their audition for the record label: to get in front of Druski, the fictional label’s CEO.
Brown made four appearances in the auditions. The first was as an aspiring rapper named “Blicky,” who donned a Jayson Tatum jersey. He also joked with a contestant who said she was there to support her brother, implying the contestant would be a perfect fit for the comedian’s reality dating show.
“She needs to be on ‘Coulda Been Love,’ that’s a keeper right there for Druski,” Brown quipped.
The Celtics guard also hilariously asked a contestant, “BStar,” what WNBA team she played for before she broke out dance moves, prompting Brown to send her to the official audition.
His final approval came for “Smeet,” who did a motivational speech from the Sylvester Stallone film “Rocky.”
Brown scored 25 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 4 assists in the Celtics’ 117-116 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday.
‘The Icon’ Sting made his triumphant return to AEW at the WrestleDream 2025 pay-per-view to aid Darby Allin against Jon Moxley. In the show’s main event, Allin and Moxley faced off in an I-Quit match, which saw some of the most brutal moments ever shown on AEW programming.
In one shocking moment, the Death Riders filled up a fish tank in the middle of the ring and Moxley plunged Allin’s head under the water in an attempt to drown him. Suddenly, the lights went out and Sting appeared in the ring. The Icon choked Moxley with his baseball bat and fought off the Death Riders.
Allin would batlte back and hit Moxley with the bat, a neckbreaker, and a Coffin Drop. In a fitting tribute to his mentor, Allin locked in the Scorpion Death Lock which forced Moxley to quit, giving Allin the win.
This was a brutal match which included several weapons, including a taser. You can check out some highlights from the match below:
Sting retired from in-ring competition in 2024, and his appearance at WrestleDream shows how The Icon still has a legion of loyal fans. With 2025 marking Sting’s final year in the iconic black and white, this may have been the last time fans see Steve Borden as Sting on TV.
Former British Olympic athletics coach Jose Vicente Leiva-Modahl has appeared in court after being accused of child sex offences.
Leiva-Modahl, 65 – who was previously married to former Olympic middle-distance runner Diane Modahl – is facing 19 separate charges including sexual assault of a child, rape and controlling and coercive behaviour.
Leiva-Modahl, who is also known as Vicente Modahl, appeared from custody at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday for a 15-minute hearing in which no pleas were indicated.
District judge Richard Jepson sent the case to Manchester Crown Court, telling Leiva-Modahl that some of the allegations were too serious to be dealt with at the magistrates’ court.
Leiva-Modahl was granted conditional bail ahead of a plea and trial preparation hearing on 18 November.
Among his bail conditions were to reside at an address in the Warrington area, to abide by an electronic monitoring curfew from 21:00 to 07:00 and not to contact witnesses in the case.
He was also ordered to surrender his Spanish passport and not to have any unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18.
Leiva-Modahl has been suspended by governing body UK Athletics, the court also heard.
Eagle-eyed fans spotted a former champion of the NWA during the September 29, episode of WWE Raw, playing a role outside of the ring. During the show’s opening segment, a confrontation between Asuka, Kairi Sane, IYO SKY, and Rhea Ripley ended with SKY getting misted by Asuka.
Later in the show, SKY was seen backstage getting medical help. Fans familiar with the NWA spotted Ella Envy as one of the medics tending to the former Women’s World Champion.
Envy, real name Madison Hardin, is a four-time former NWA World Women’s Tag Team Champion. In 2022, her efforts alongside Kenzie Page saw the duo place #71 in PWI’s ranking of the top 100 tag teams of the year.
BK Westbrook was the other extra during the segment backstage with SKY. Westbrook is a regular on the independent scene and regularly competes for Deadlock Pro Wrestling. Both he and Envy are based in North Carolina, the home of this week’s WWE Raw.
For Envy and Westbrook, their roles on Raw gave the pair a taste of the high-production that is a WWE TV event. With some notable names first appearing as extras in WWE, including Sheamus, Wade Barrett, and Tomasso Ciampa, perhaps these cameo roles will be the start of bigger things for the pair.
Jazz, Walker Kessler remain apart on contract extension, he appears headed to restricted free agency
In an NBA where a rim-protecting big man who shows some athleticism, can set screens and roll hard to the rim — and then finish — has real value, which is why a lot of teams have called and tried to pry Walker Kessler out of Utah. To no avail, he has remained the Jazzâ€s starting center.
That doesnâ€t mean Utah and Kessler are ready to ink his next contract. The sides remain well apart on a deal, and all signs point to Kessler playing out this season then becoming a restricted free agent next summer, reports Tony Jones at The Athletic.
“According to sources, [the Jazz] highly value Kessler and see him as a cornerstone to the future…. So, if the Jazz value Kessler so much, why not extend him now and lock him into a five-year deal?
The answer is simple: money. And the NBA is a business.
The Jazz see themselves trying to end their time near the bottom of the Western Conference standings as soon as next summer. By not signing Kessler now, he would have a cap hold of $14.9 million next summer, which would give the Jazz enough space to keep Kesslerâ€s hold and still do work in free agency.
If the Jazz signed Kessler to a contract extension worth a hypothetical $25 million a season, then next summer Kessler would count for $25 million against the salary cap, reducing the money the Jazz would have in free agency. Because Utah has Kesslerâ€s Bird rights, they can make whatever moves they want next summer and then re-sign Kessler (and go over the cap to do it).
The risk is that other teams have cap space next summer and could come in and try to poach Kessler with a contract that Utah doesnâ€t want to match (the Lakers have had interest in him before and will have cap space next summer). That is not likely, however, regardless of how many other teams have cap space. Ask this yearâ€s restricted free agents Jonathan Kuminga, Quentin Grimes and Cam Thomas about that — restricted free agency favors the team that has the rights.
Kessler played in 58 games last season averaging 11.1 points, 12.2 rebounds and 2.4 blocks a game. He is a plus defender in the paint who doesnâ€t shoot a lot, but he does heâ€s efficient shooting 66% last season.
For this season, Kessler stays in Utah and plays for his next contract, which also most likely will be in Utah. If he builds on those numbers from last season, it just gets more expensive for the Jazz to keep him.
