India faces New Zealand in the second India vs New Zealand ODI on Wednesday with a 1–0 lead in the three-match series. New Zealand has won the toss and decided to bowl first against India. India won the first match in Vadodara by four wickets while chasing 301, with Virat Kohli scoring 93 off 91 balls and playing the key role in the chase.
Kohli and Rohit Sharma continue to lead India’s batting. Kohli’s form has been strong, and his 93 in the first ODI helped India stay ahead despite a brief collapse after his dismissal. He has now scored five consecutive fifty-plus scores in ODIs and become the fastest player to reach 28,000 international runs.
New Zealand showed fight in the first ODI. Devon Conway and Henry Nicholls put on a 117-run opening stand, and Daryl Mitchell scored 84 to take them to 300. However, dropped catches and middle-order mistakes hurt their chances.
India will look to take a 2–0 lead in the three-match series after winning the first ODI in Vadodara by four wickets. New Zealand will aim to respond strongly in Rajkot to keep the series alive.
India vs New Zealand 2nd ODI 2025: Playing XIs for the 2nd ODI
For the 2nd India vs New Zealand ODI, India are dealing with injury problems. Washington Sundar has been ruled out for the rest of the series with a side strain, and Nitish Kumar Reddy has been added to the squad as his replacement. Rishabh Pant was already ruled out after getting injured during practice, which led to Dhruv Jurel being picked.
New Zealand still had some positives even though they played with a relatively inexperienced team. Devon Conway and Henry Nicholls both scored half-centuries and gave the team a strong start at the top of the order. Daryl Mitchell once again performed well against India with an important innings. Kyle Jamieson stood out as the best fast bowler in the match.

Weather and Pitch Report for India vs New Zealand 2nd ODI
The weather in Rajkot for the second ODI between India and New Zealand is expected to be sunny and dry throughout the day. The temperature is likely to reach around 28°C in the afternoon and drop to about 22°C by the evening. There is no rain predicted, so a full match is very likely.
The pitch at the Niranjan Shah Stadium is expected to be flat and batting-friendly. The surface has historically supported big scores, and with clear weather, teams should get a full 100 overs to either set or chase strong totals. It is expected that batters will enjoy the conditions, particularly if dew is present under lights. Dew may benefit the batting side in the second innings by making it more difficult for bowlers to grasp the ball.

ORLANDO, Fla. — In hopes of landing the next No. 1 draft pick, the Chicago White Sox enlisted the aid of their last top overall pick. The presence of Hall of Famer Harold Baines worked like a charm.
The White Sox secured the first pick in the 2026 Major League Baseball draft by winning the annual draft lottery Tuesday at the winter meetings. Chicago entered the lottery with the best odds for landing the pick, but with a 27.7% chance at the selection, it was far from a sure thing. In the end, Chicago got what it wanted.
“It’s a significant, significant event for us, and it can’t be overstated how important it is,” White Sox general manager Chris Getz said. “We’ve been hard at work at bringing talent into the organization in different ways. Obviously, the amateur draft is an avenue, and now to be able to get a chance at the top talent in the draft is really exciting.”

As the picks were revealed one by one in a dark ballroom of the Hilton Signia in Orlando, illuminated only by studio lights for the MLB TV broadcast of the proceedings, the last two teams still alive were the White Sox, represented by Baines, and the Rays, represented by ebullient former outfielder Brett Phillips, who suggested he might perform the airplane celebration if Tampa Bay won the lottery.
Instead, it was Chicago and the more subdued Baines who took the night. Baines, who entered the Hall of Fame in 2019, was the draft’s top selection in 1977, a time so different that he said he didn’t have representation when White Sox executive Roland Hemond called to tell him the club was taking him first.
Things have changed. Though when asked which outcome he preferred — 1977 or 2025 — Baines was straightforward.
“My own,” Baines quipped. “There wasn’t this hoopla then. It’s exciting to be here. I’m happy for the organization. I’m still a part of it.”
The White Sox set an MLB record with 121 losses in 2024, and while the 2025 season was dismal by most teams’ standards, Chicago cut the loss total to a less-notable 102 and the made-over roster was dominated by up-and-coming players. They will soon add another.

Among the candidates to be taken early in the draft, a lot of attention has gone to UCLA shortstop Roch Cholowsky, who hit .353 with 23 homers and 74 RBIs in 66 games for the Bruins and has been touted by some outlets as the best shortstop prospect in years.
Now, Getz has carte blanche to add another impact talent such as Cholowsky to his emerging core, though the general manager wasn’t about to tip his hand after the lottery on Tuesday.
“There’s a couple guys that are standouts right now,” Getz said. “You’ve still got to do the work. You stay at it, and you’re open-minded. But now that we’ve received the No. 1 pick, I’m fairly confident tonight I’ll be diving in a little bit more.”
Other winners from lottery night included the Kansas City Royals and San Francisco Giants.
The Royals, represented at the lottery by manager Matt Quatraro, were slated for the 13th pick but jumped to No. 6. The Giants, represented by former outfielder Randy Winn, jumped from 12th to fourth.
On the flip side, the New York Mets fell out of the lottery altogether, completing a dismal day in Queens. Because of their status as a high-level, luxury-tax-paying team, the Mets needed to get into the top six to avoid dropping. They didn’t, and on the same day they saw their star closer, Edwin Diaz, sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Mets came out of the lottery with the 27th pick of the first round.
For the White Sox, after a couple of tough years in the standings as Getz’s extensive rebuild has taken shape, the news was much better, and Tuesday night was a time to rejoice.
“We’re busy — good busy,” Getz said. “But tonight, it’s really about getting the group together and celebrating the No. 1 pick.”
India is playing South Africa in the second India vs South Africa T20I at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh. India has won the toss and has decided to bowl first. India leads the five-match series 1-0 after a big 101-run win in the first match. Suryakumar Yadavâ€s team will try to extend the lead to 2-0.
In the first T20I at Cuttack, India scored 175/6. Hardik Pandya made a powerful 59 not out from 28 balls in his return match. Tilak Varma added 26. Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav struggled and got out early, but South Africaâ€s batting collapsed even more. They were bowled out for only 74.
Arshdeep Singh struck early with two wickets in the power play. Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy, and Axar Patel also took two wickets each. Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube shared the final two wickets.
India vs South Africa 2nd T20 2025: Playing XIs for the 2nd T20
For the 2nd India vs South Africa T20 match, India is going to keep the same team. South Africa has made three changes in their playing XI because of the rotation point of view, with Reeza Hendricks, George Linde, and Lutho Sipamla joining the team.
India comes into the match after a strong 101-run win in Cuttack, where the bowlers dominated. The team now aims to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series, but they also want a better show from the top-order batting.
South Africa will try to recover from their collapse in Cuttack. They had earlier swept the Test series 2-0 and successfully chased 359 in Raipur during the ODI series, so they will believe they can level the T20 series before the teams move to Dharamsala for the third match.

Weather and Pitch Report for India vs South Africa 2nd T20
The second India vs South Africa T20I is being played at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium in New Chandigarh. The match will be the first menâ€s international game ever held at this new stadium.
Before the second T20I, the weather and pitch conditions in New Chandigarh are important. Winter has set in across northern India, and Thursdayâ€s minimum temperature is 9°C. At toss time, the temperature should be around 18–19°C, and it is not expected to fall below 12°C by the end of the match. There is no rain forecast for the day. Dew could become a factor later in the game, as seen during the ODI series.
The pitch at the Mullanpur stadium has offered mixed results in the IPL. It has seen several 200-plus totals, including a high-scoring Eliminator between the Mumbai Indians and the Gujarat Titans. It has also produced low-scoring matches where even 111 was defended by the Punjab Kings, who now use this ground as their home venue. The pitch usually gives a fair contest between bat and ball. Toss is not expected to be a major factor, since teams batting first have won six times and lost five at this venue.

Barring any late injury, India should stick with their XI that played in the first T20I, which would mean more bench time for Sanju Samson.

The South African Cricket Team has defeated India in the second One Day International of the three-match series between these two teams, tying the series with one match to go. This result comes in spite of Virat Kohli hitting his 84th international century.
Today was the second India vs South Africa ODI. The first match saw India pick up the win in a match that was thrilling throughout. The second game was played at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Raipur and saw the away team win the toss and decide to chase on a batting-friendly pitch.
IND Vs SA: India Lose 2nd ODI Despite Kohli 100
While the Indian Cricket Team did get off to a quick start to their inning, they also lost a couple of wickets in the powerplay. First, in the fifth over, Rohit Sharma was caught behind, dismissed by Nandre Burger for 14 off eight. Then, in the 10th over, after making 22 off 38, Yashasvi Jaiswal departed, falling victim to Marco Jansen.
But then came a stellar partnership between Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad. The two took on the Proteas bowling order, scoring runs, hitting boundaries, and looking dominant.
Over the next 25 runs or so, the two men formed a 195-run partnership. In the process, Ruturaj made his first international century. However, he then looked to further accelerate his innings, despite batting with a 120+ strike rate, getting out soon after as he was caught at square leg for 105 off 83.
Kohli reached his ton soon after, making it his second in this series. Not only has Virat made two hundreds in as many games in this series, but he has also extended his lead of most ODI centuries ever. He now has 53 100s in the one-day format. Virat Kohli, soon after making his century, got out for 102 off 93. The score was 284/4 in the 40th over. Washington Sundar got out soon after, being run out. At the end of 41 overs, the score was 289/5.
The pair of KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja steered India to the end of the inning. The two veterans did not lose their wickets and took the Men in Blue past the 350-run mark. Rahul made 66 off 43, while Jadeja made 24 off 27. However, there was a feeling in the air that India could very well have made 20 or so more runs. The Indian cricket team’s innings ended at 358/8.
Chasing a 350+ run target for a second game in a row, the South Africans responded to a solid batting effort by India by losing an early wicket. Wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock got in the fifth over for eight off 11, dismissed by Arshdeep Singh.
But then came the biggest South African partnership of the game as Aiden Markram paired up with captain Temba Bavuma to fight back against the Indian bowling attack. The two batters first attacked the pace and then dealt with the spin in their 101-run partnership. By the time skipper Bavuma was dismissed by Harshit Rana for 46 off 48 in the 21st over, the score was 127/2.
Then came another solid Proteas partnership, as Markram linked with Matthew Breetzke. The two batters that represented the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL last season batted for nine overs together and 70 runs. During this partnership, Aiden Markram reached the 100-run mark. He got out in the 30th over to end this third-wicket partnership after making 110 off 98.
Another impressive partnership would come next, as Breetzke paired up with Dewald Brevis for a 92-run partnership. South Africa crossed 280 runs at the 40-over mark, needing to score 77 runs in the final 10 overs.
Brevis, after scoring a quickfire half century, got out for 54 off 34 in the 41st over. Tony de Zorzi would walk in next and try to keep the pace up but had hurt his leg at some point on the crease.
Despite falling behind in the game, the Indian Cricket Team rallied and picked up some quick wickets. Only a few overs after Brevis†wicket, Matthew Breetzke departed for 54 off 34. Then, Marco Jansen was dismissed after making just a couple runs. Then, in the over after that, de Zorzi left the pitch, retiring hurt.
At this point, the score was 332/6 in 45 overs, as the South Africans needed 27 off 30, with Corbin Bosch being the only proper batter left.
However, Bosch took it upon himself to finish the matchup, something he failed to do in the last game. The all-rounder made 29 off 15. And with some decent support by Maharaj (10 off 14), Bosch took the Proteas home with four balls to spare. South Africa won this match by four wickets.
For his brilliant match-winning ton, Aiden Markram was named the Player of the Match.
With this result, the three-match series is now tied 1-1 as we go into the last match. The third and final match of this series will be played on Saturday, December 6, in the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

If you have not already seen it, which is difficult as the photos are all over social media, Steve Smith is set to re-introduce to the cricket fans the anti-glare black strips, previously made famous by Shivnarine Chanderpaul, in the upcoming 2nd Test of the Ashes 2025/26.
After Travis Headâ€s ballistic century in Perth that helped the hosts take a 1-0 lead, the AUS vs ENG Ashes caravan now moves to Brisbane, where the 2nd Test will be played at the Gabba. It will be a day-night fixture to be played with a pink ball.
Australia have an outstanding record in day-night pink-ball Test matches: 13 wins and only one defeat. While Adelaide used to host the day-night Test regularly, the Gabba has hosted three such contests. Of these three, Australia won the first two—against Pakistan and Sri Lanka in 2016 and 2019, respectively—but lost the last one against the West Indies in 2024.
Steve Smith has an ordinary record in day-night Tests: an average of 37 in 13 Tests, well below his lofty standards of an average of 58 in red-ball Test matches. He has hit one century and five fifties, including a 91 in the lost Test against the West Indies.
AUS vs ENG: What is the black strip Steve Smith is wearing in 2nd Test of the Ashes?
To improve his performances against the pink ball in day-night Tests, Steve Smith has copied Shivnarine Chanderpaulâ€s tactic of using anti-glare, adhesive black strips to be worn on the cheekbone under his eyes that would absorb the glare of the pink ball and also the floodlights.
On the eve of the Brisbane Test, Smith confirmed that he would be wearing it in the match and revealed his conversation with Chanderpaul.
Smith said, “I actually messaged Shivnarine Chanderpaul and asked him what his thoughts were, whether he wore the chalk or the strips. He said the strips, and he thinks it blocks out 65% of the glare. And he also said, ‘Iâ€ve seen photos and youâ€re wearing them the wrong wayâ€. So yesterday I put them on the right way. I agree with him. I think it certainly stops the glare. Yeah, Iâ€ll be wearing them.â€
Smith had been using these strips over the last few days while batting during the nets and gave a positive review of the effect of them in absorbing a portion of glare from the pink ball.
These strips are known as ‘Eye Blacks†and are commonly used in American sports to reduce the glare from floodlights in the stadium by absorbing the light that would reflect off the skin.
Steve Smith is keen to do better in the day-night Test. He spoke of the challenges heâ€s faced in pink-ball matches, with the pink ball known to swing much more than the red ball in the third session of the day under lights.
“Itâ€s hard to bat all the time. Itâ€s a tricky one. The ball reacts obviously differently to a red one. It can change quickly. It can start moving randomly,†he added.
Meanwhile, Australia are certain to make at least one change to their lineup from Perth to Brisbane: Usman Khawaja is ruled out of the 2nd Test due to back spasms. Josh Inglis and Beau Webster are the in-form options on the bench for Australia, who would also be tempted to open with Head.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma (AFP Photo) NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma appeared unfazed by the growing chatter around their futures, focusing instead on a demanding net session under the floodlights ahead of Indiaâ€s second ODI against South Africa on Wednesday.Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. Still have doubts? Virat Kohli blows World Cup trumpet with another masterclass
But fresh off back-to-back match-winning performances against Australia and South Africa, neither Kohli nor Rohit showed any signs of easing up during training on Tuesday.Kohli looked sharp and assertive, taking on throw-down experts Raghu (right-arm) and Nuwan Seneviratne (left-arm), who pushed the pace throughout the session. The battle was compelling to watch — Kohli found the middle of the bat repeatedly, though there were moments when Raghuâ€s extra pace beat him.Head coach Gautam Gambhir stood positioned between the two nets, observing the session closely. When Kohli wrapped up his batting, he rested both bats on his shoulders and walked past Gambhir without exchanging a word — a moment that would not go unnoticed considering the recent narrative surrounding Indian cricket.Rohit, who followed Kohli into the nets and then toward the dressing room shortly after, did pause briefly for a conversation with Gambhir before heading inside. While all eyes naturally gravitated toward the two senior players, training intensity remained high across the nets as India look to clinch the series after taking a 1-0 lead with Sunday’s win in Ranchi. With the match to be played on a black-soil surface at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium, the batting group trained with intent, showcasing aggression from the outset.Yashasvi Jaiswal sent multiple deliveries soaring over the leg side boundary, and even rolled his arm over to bowl to Rishabh Pant — the last batter to take his turn in the nets.
India vs South Africa 2nd ODI Match Prediction:The pain of the Test series defeat last month against South Africa was allayed for a while as long as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were at the crease during their compelling knocks in the India vs South Africa 1st ODI.

Another chance for the Indian cricket fans to savor the last phase of Rohit and Kohli in India colors will come on Wednesday in the 2nd ODI, which will be hosted in Raipur.

Australia vs England 2nd Test Match Prediction:Ben Stokes†England arrived in Australia with the aim of winning their first Ashes series away from home since 2010/11. And after the first day in Perth, it felt that their ambition could come to fruition.
However, Travis Head stunned the Bazballers with a Bazballing knock, blasting a 69-ball century to make the fourth-innings run chase of 205 a breeze. Before Head ransacked the England pacers, Mitchell Starc had taken 10 wickets for the first time in an Ashes Test as the visiting batters found the left-arm speedster extremely challenging to face.
Things could get even tougher for the batsmen, as the second Test will be a day-night Test match to be played with the pink ball at the Gabba in Brisbane.

Australia vs England 2nd Test Ashes team news:
It has become a difficult task for everyone to predict the exact line-ups of the two teams for the Gabba Test.
England will definitely make at least one change: Mark Wood will be rested from the second Ashes Test as he recovers from his knee injury. England have three options to replace Wood.
A like-for-like replacement would be a pacer: Josh Tongue, in that case, is likely to pip over Matthew Potts. The other options are spinner Shoaib Bashir and all-rounder Will Jacks. All three have different characteristics and have their own merits in Englandâ€s XI.
Meanwhile, Australia will be deliberating whether to retain Travis Head as opener after his ballistic century as a makeshift opener in Perth, where Usman Khawaja didnâ€t open in both of Australiaâ€s innings after walking off with back spasms.
Although Khawaja is part of the 14-man squad for the Brisbane Test, his form and fitness are under a cloud. If Australia decide to continue with Head as opener, Khawaja could either have a slot in the middle order or would be replaced—Josh Inglis has been in a healthy nick with the bat, while Beau Webster is the in-form all-rounder.
For the unversed, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood will miss the Brisbane Test as well.

For the first time in a month, the Nashville Predators have won back to back games.

It’s the first time since Oct. 25 that the Predators have won back-to-back games, and the first time this season that Nashville has won back-to-back games in regulation.
The Predators had a slow start to the game as Ryan Donato scored the long goal of the first period to give Chicago a 1-0 lead. In the second, rookie Matthew Wood scored his seventh goal of the season off a pass up the boards from Nic Hague that sprung Wood for the game-tying goal.
Later, Steven Stamkos got the puck on the opposite side from Nick Blankenburg and tapped it in on the backhand for a 2-1 lead. It was Blankenburg’s third point in two games.
Ryan Greene scored on the power play to tie the game back up at two, but Evangelista responded in the final five minutes of the period. He’d scored off a Stamkos rebound to give Nashville a 3-2 lead. Stamkos now has four points in two games after recording just three points in 21 games.

In the third period, O’Reilly netted his second point of the game, scoring off a centering feed from Evangelista to the slot. Evangelista also finished with two points.

Teuvo Teravainen scored in the third period for Chicago, but it wasn’t enough.
The line of Stamkos, Evangelista and Reilly logged 10 minutes of ice time and generated six shots.
Nashville outshot Chicago, 29-27 and 62.9% of face-offs. The Predators struggled to stay out of the box as they had 10 penalty minutes to the Blackhawks’ six. Nashville also went 0-for-2 on the power play and 3-of-4 on the penalty kill.
Juuse Saros picked up the win, making 24 saves on 27 shots for a .889 save percentage for his sixth win of the season.
Up next: Winnipeg Jets (12-11-0) at Nashville Predators (8-12-4) on Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. CST at Bridgestone Arena.
