If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to combine the passion and excitement of both the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup into a single exhibition, the PGA Tour Champions did just that with the introduction of the World Champions Cup, a three-team, three-day competition contested in nine-hole matches in which points are earned for each hole won across the event’s 24 matches. The teams play in sixsomes (modified alternate shot) and six-ball (best ball) matches for the first two days, followed by singles matches on the final day.

The three teams are composed of six senior players each from the U.S., Europe and the rest of the world (International). The inaugural World Champions Cup was played in 2023, with the U.S. team prevailing by an ultra-slim margin of two points over the Internationals. Last year, the tournament was postponed due to weather, so this year will mark the second playing of the event.

Feather Sound Country Club in Clearwater, Fla., will host the 2025 edition of the tournament on Dec. 4-7. Last week, Skechers was announced as the event’s title sponsor, with Shriners Children’s named as the official charity partner.

    Skechers Slip-ins: GO GOLF Prestige

Handle the course in timeless style and modern comfort wearing Skechers Hands Free Slip-ins®: GO GOLF® Prestige. Designed with our exclusive Heel Pillow™, this waterproof golf design features a lace-up leather upper with saddle oxford details, a removable Arch Fit® insole, lightweight ECO FLIGHT™ cushioning, and replaceable Tour Flex Pro SoftSpikes®.

“The Skechers World Champions Cup supporting Shriners Children’s mirrors our commitment to innovating the golf experience — from game-changing products to engaging top players in exciting new ways,” said Skechers president Michael Greenberg in a press release. “As a global brand known for bringing ‘Comfort that Performs’ to the course, we look forward to advancing the sport with the world’s best.”

In 2023, World Champions Cup participants included Jim Furyk, Steve Stricker, David Toms, Jerry Kelly, Justin Leonard and Brett Quigley (U.S. Team); Darren Clarke, Bernhard Langer, Colin Montgomerie, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Robert Karlsson and Alex Cejka (Europe) and Ernie Els, Vijay Singh, Retief Goosen, Steven Alker, Stephen Ames and K.J. Choi (International). The 2025 teams have yet to be announced.

As the title sponsor, Skechers’ onsite activation presence at the tournament will include an immersive pop-up shop and sponsorship of the Skechers VIP shared hospitality suite. The tournament action will air on ABC and ESPN. For more information about the Skechers World Champions Cup supporting Shriners Children’s, click here.
