Shinsuke Nakamura has revealed the ultimate mission he needs to accomplish in WWE.
Nakamura reverted to his iconic babyface character when he returned to WWE television earlier this month. This saw Nakamura accepting Sami Zaynâ€s United States Championship open challenge on the October 10, 2025, episode of SmackDown. Despite the match ending in a no-contest, The King of Strong Style still has championship aspirations, but is aiming for something higher than the US Title.
During a recent interview with Tokyo Sports,Shinsuke Nakamura stated that the one thing that keeps him going in WWE is his mission to win a World Championship. He also said that it was the one thing male Japanese wrestlers have yet to accomplish in the USA.
“I believe in it, so I keep going. Thatâ€s the World Heavyweight Championship, I just want to win that. I think thatâ€s the one thing that Japanese wrestlers, especially men, have yet to break through on this American stage. I donâ€t know if itâ€s proof. But I canâ€t help but wonder what would happen if I couldnâ€t do it. I hope I can leave some kind of path, or hope, for the next generation of Japanese and Asian wrestlers.â€

The report also speculated that if WWE allows Shinsuke Nakamura to compete against Tanahashi, it could affect NJPWâ€s current partnership with AEW and CMLL.
