blankKL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja (PTI Photos) India dominated the opening Test against the West Indies, with KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja all scoring centuries to give the hosts a massive 286-run lead by the end of day two. At stumps, India were 448 for 5, with Jadeja unbeaten on 104. The West Indies spinners found some turn, but India looked firmly in control and on track to finish the match quickly. Rahul brought up his 11th Test hundred, ending a long wait for a home ton. Jurel scored a stylish 125 for his maiden Test century in only his sixth match, while Jadeja added his sixth hundred, continuing a purple patch of consistent high scores. Each batter had a distinct way of celebrating: Rahul for his infant daughter, Jurel for the Indian Army, and Jadeja with his trademark sword. Together, they hit 45 boundaries and eight sixes, with Jadeja hitting five in the same region. The trioâ€s efforts were complemented by a strong mentoring environment. In a video released by the BCCI titled The Power of Manifestation, Jurel recounted his innings and reflected on the support he received from senior players. On matchday, he said, “I got my chance and I wanted to give my best. Playing for India at home against the West Indies is a dream. I am very excited to contribute for my team.â€Click here to watch the video. After reaching his century, he added, “I was constantly speaking to Jaddu bhai about my options. I wanted him to tell me if he felt I was getting lazy.†Jadeja replied, “I just told him to feel free and play his shots.†Jurel reflected on the guidance from seniors, saying, “When experienced players are around, things become a lot easier. Starting the innings with KL bhai helped a lot as he kept advising me on what shots to play.†KL Rahul also praised the debutant, saying, “I have spent a lot of time talking cricket with him. I have seen him work hard and I am really happy for him. His first hundred is super special.†Jurel added that his enjoyment of cricket and balance outside the game with family life has made a huge difference, giving him the freedom to embrace each innings as a new opportunity. India declared on 448 for 5 on day three, building a commanding 286-run lead over the West Indies, who had earlier been bowled out for 162. With key bowlers Alzarri Joseph and Shamar Joseph ruled out, the visitors have struggled, leaving India strong favourites to win the series 2-0.
