The 29-year-old goaltender has signed a one-year, $825,000 contract, the Sabres announced Thursday.
Georgiev split the 2024-25 season with the Colorado Avalanche and San Jose Sharks, finishing with a 15-26-4 record, 3.71 goals-against average and .875 save percentage.
Georgiev had career years during his first two seasons in Colorado, tying Linus Ullmark for the league lead with 40 wins in 2022-23 and topping all netminders with 38 wins in 2023-24.
After a disappointing start last season, Georgiev was traded to San Jose in December in a deal that sent fellow goalie Mackenzie Blackwood to Colorado.
The Bulgarian-born Russian signed with the New York Rangers as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He spent the first five seasons of his career with the Rangers and was traded to the Avalanche in July 2022.
Georgiev holds a 151-108-26 career record, 2.99 GAA and .903 save percentage over eight seasons with the Rangers, Avalanche and Sharks.
