Somehow August is over and we’re entering the final month of fantasy baseball. Some squads might be entering the playoff portion in their leagues but some dynasty leagues still allow pickups all the way to the end. I’ve said many times that this is one of the key times when you can build some value on your teams as many of your league mates have “checked out” until the preseason starts up in earnest again.
The exciting news is that we got a large influx of pitching Statcast data this past week so we can enhance our RoboScout rankings with our internal “Stuff+” model folded in. This should add further accuracy to the insights, or at the very least, more detailed insights. The RoboScores listed in the pitching sections include the Stuff+.
Let’s see who RoboScout is recommending this week.

Last week, I neglected to list Giants shortstop Josuar Gonzalez whose Statcast wasn’t pulling properly. With his 80% contact rate (90% in-zone) and 103 mph 90th percentile exit velocity, while chasing at pitches at a league-average rate, he ranks just outside the top ten without taking into account the glowing scouting reports and industry feedback to which RoboScout is agnostic.
Dominican Summer League Pitching
It’s probably not as useful to have a traditional list, but this is who is intriguing RoboScout from the pitching side in the DSL, taking into account age, performance, and stuff
Giants lefty Carlos De La Rosa, who was acquired from the Yankees as part of the Camilo Doval deal has a blend of performance, youth and stuff. Averaging 93 mph on his flat four seam fastball, the 17-year-old also has an 81 mph slider. Although both are better than average pitches, especially for his age (and level), he will need to develop a third pitch for righties and to be able to turn over a lineup more than three times.
A pair of 16-year-old right- handers both had a 30% strikeout rate and had better-than-average stuff in the DSL: Royals righty Freddy Contreras and Twins pitcher Santiago Castellanos. Contreras sits 95 mph already on his four-seam fastball and has 20” IVB, while also throwing a 79 mph curveball and an 87 mph changeup with both secondaries generating over 40% whiffs. Castellanos sits 93 mph on his four seam fastball and his curveball has over 15 inches of horizontal break. He also has a slider that sits above the 85 mph threshold and a changeup that has over 15 inches of arm-side run. Interestingly, Castellanos has some of the shortest extension in the league – but already sitting 93 mph at 16-years-old, his effective velocity as he develops, should increase substantially and become at least plus velocity barring injury.
There is no need to mention Royals righty Kendry Chourio who came stateside in his electrifying professional debut season, but another 17-year-old has some intriguing stuff, Marlins righthander Pedro Montero. Montero sits 93 mph with a four seam fastball that has 19 inches of IVB, and his 80 mph slider has over 14 inches of glove-side horizontal break, while his changeup sports nearly 15 inches of arm-side fade. Along with 16-year-old Kevin Defrank, who sits 97 mph, the Marlins have some interesting young arms.
Complex League Hitting
With the recent Statcast influx, we can revisit the Complex League hitting and make a FINAL final Complex League list on both sides of the ball.

With the updated Complex League list a few names pop up, most notably Cubs infielder Edgardo De Leon who has the highest 90th percentile exit velocity of any 18-year-old in the Complex League at a shade under 108 mph, which is in the top 5% across all levels in the entire minor leagues. The contact rate is slightly below-average and the chase rate is slightly above average, but still – that kind of thump in the bat, including a 22% barrel rate, is double-plus raw and plus game power.
Astros outfielder Anthony Huezo, fresh off being the Helium name on the Hot Sheet last week, shows up in the top 20 too with his plus raw power.

An extremely interesting pitcher for 2026 is Pirates lefthander Reinold Navarro who, at 18-years-old, sits 95 mph with his four-seam fastball that has over 21 inches of IVB. Although the heater is the bread and butter, he also has an 83 mph slurve and change-up that both get over 50% whiffs.

Reds catcher Alfredo Duno rises a spot after hitting a home run last week. As mentioned last week, he’s showing the performance and underlying metrics of a top 20 fantasy hitting prospect.
White Sox shortstop Caleb Bonemer hit a home run and stole a base last Sunday prior to getting promoted to High-A to rise another slot before leaving the level. The 19-year-old’s underlying statcast is all better-than-average for the level for contact, exit velocity, chase, and barrel rates – all the more impressive considering he was still in his teens in Low-A. (Spoiler alert: he’s in the top ten for High-A after his 17 plate appearances at Winston-Salem. Oh, and second spoiler: he hit two home runs today, not accounted for above).
Rays catcher Nathan Flewelling appears at the back of the list. Over his last 100 plate appearances, the 18-year-old has a 165 wRC+ with two home runs and four stolen bases but, really, it’s his statcast data rather than his performance that you should be invested in. With a 105.2 mph 90th percentile exit velocity – that is (slightly) higher than Alfredo Duno – while sporting essentially the same contact and in-zone contact rate of the Reds slugger. With a better-than-league average chase rate and barrel rate, it’s clear that Flewelling is extremely underrated by those models that are statcast-agnostic.

Although he has arguably been one of the hottest pitchers at the level in August with a 1.00 WHIP, 0.81 ERA and a 33% strikeout-minus-walk-rate, when including Stuff+ into the rankings, Royals lefty David Shields slides slightly from second to fifth. Although his stuff is completely fine – with a 90 mph four seam fastball from above average extension with nearly 14 inches of arm-side run, a curveball and changeup – both of which get over 30% whiffs – and an 83 mph slider, his stuff is not as dominant as some of the other young pitchers at the level such as Johnny King, Kendry Chourio or Cam Caminiti.
Two pitchers showing excellent stuff at the level – but who are not in High-A are Rangers 20-year-old Caden Scarborough and White Sox southpaw Christian Oppor. Both sit mid 90s with their fastballs, have sliders that have more than a foot of horizontal break while each generating more than 44% whiffs, and add in changeups that have more than 10 mph velocity separation. RoboScout prefers Scarborough.

Not much has changed in the High-A rankings except for the debuts of Bonemer who we touched on in the Low-A section and Red Sox corner outfielder Justin Gonzales who enters the back-end of the list. Last year, the then-17-year-old was identified as having intriguing Statcast data as he had better-than-average contact rates and exit velocities. While the contact rate has slipped slightly to 76% on the year – still better than average for the level and for his age – his 90th percentile exit velocity has increased 3 more mph to 106.7 mph. That is higher than Dodgers outfielder Josue De Paula and Guardians first baseman Ralphy Velazquez. Here is a comparison between Gonzales and fellow-18-year-old Brewers breakout Luis Pena and Velazquez (who is two years older than Gonzales and Pena).
nAMEagecont%Z-cont%90evchASE%bARREL%Justin Gonzales1876%83%106.7 mph29%15%Luis Pena1878%87%104.7 mph31%14%Ralphy Velazquez2076%83%106.4 mph24%26%
Clearly, the comparison is not apt as Velazquez is actualizing his hard hits at optimal launch angles as evidenced by that absurd barrel rate, while not chasing as much – while Gonzales, and especially Pena, chase at rates slightly higher than average – but this kind of combination of bat-to-ball skills and thump is rare, especially for someone their age.
First baseman/DH Callan Moss came over to the Pirates from the Royals as part of the Bailey Falter deal at the deadline and the 21-year-old has hit six home runs in his 99 plate appearances for High-A Greensboro with a 218 wRC+. Although the slugger has little defensive value, the Pirates got a bat with a 105 mph 90th percentile exit velocity and 22% barrel rate with essentially average contact and chase rates. His peak projections for home runs in the major leagues is fringe-average, but based on the statcast data, it is likely being under-represented by the surface performance.

The biggest beneficiaries of the past week’s statcast fold-in have been Brewers righty Bishop Letson, Orioles righthander Trey Gibson and Nationals fireballer Jarlin Susana who each jumped from the back of the list to the top half to sixth, tenth, and eighth respectively. All are viewed as mid-rotation starters by RoboScout.
Yankees right hander Carlos Lagrange cements himself as the third best pitcher in High-A, though he is not faring nearly as successfully in Double-A right now. That’s surprising, based on his stuff: a 98 mph four-seam fastball, a mid-80s sweeper that has over a foot of horizontal break, and a more cutterish slider that gets 40% whiffs, and a changeup.

The big story in Double-A is Pirates top prospect Konnor Griffin who hit his first two home runs for Altoona and stole two more bases to raise his Double-A wRC+ to 160. Good prospect. (Note: he also hit another one today, not considered above)
The book on Twins outfielder Hendry Mendez has been that he has always had excellent bat-to-ball skills but hit the ball into the ground too much, with yearly ground ball rates basically being 60% or higher since 2021. This year, the 21-year-old has improved his worm-burning rate to 54%, raising his season Launch Angle to 4.4 degrees (from 1.7 degrees in 2024) – where league average is around 12 degrees. However, to put the 4.4 degree LA in context, in the minor leagues this season, Roman Anthony had a 5.5 degree launch angle, and so far in the major leagues, the Red Sox slugger has a 7.0 degree launch angle (and 51% ground ball rate). Of course, hitting the ball as hard as Anthony – or Juan Soto(who had launch angles in 2020 and 2021 for Washington of around 5 degrees) – can transcend a “high” groundball rate, but it is plausible that Mendez can make it work, especially since he has increased his barrel rate from 12% in 2024 to 15% in 2025, while maintaining his above-average 90th percentile exit velocity of 105 mph. RoboScout, of course, loves the 86% contact rate and 91% in-zone contact rate – as both marks, for example, surpass Kevin McGonigle’s rates – but Mendez might be much more similar to Reds outfielder Hector Rodriguez than he is getting credit for.
The hottest hitter in Double-A is Guardians slugger Ralphy Velazquez who has five home runs in 74 plate appearances and a gaudy 237 wRC+ and more walks than strikeouts as a 20-year-old. We mentioned his elite statcast data on the fantasy podcast, and the only reason he isn’t on the Double-A list right now is because of his “mediocre” High-A performance in 2025. Still, RoboScout sees a 115 wRC+ at peak with 25 home runs. That’s a top 75 hitting fantasy prospect.
An under-the-radar hitter whose statcast has caught RoboScout’s eye is Astros center fielder Lucas Pence. His data at High-A and Double-A is remarkably similar to fellow-22-year-old Diamondbacks outfielder Ryan Waldschmidt, but without the accompanying surface stats (or fanfare). To wit:
NameageCONT%Z-cont%90evcHASE%bARREL%Lucas Spence2274%81%104.6 mph20%25%Ryan Waldschmidt2275%82%105.3 mph17%17%
Spence also plays better-than-average defense in centerfield, significantly increasing his real-life floor. A definite sleeper for 2026.

No one who saw Red Sox southpaw Payton Tolle’s major league debut this past week should be surprised that when the minor league Statcast stuff is folded in, he would be a beneficiary.
Interestingly, based on their peak projections, RoboScout sees everyone in the top 22 list above as potential (at least) mid-rotation starters

Royals catcher Carter Jensen has long been a RoboScout darling with better-than-average performance as a perennially-young-for-the-level hitting prospect. Now in Triple-A, the 21-year-old is on the cusp of debuting in the major leagues and shows up as the 16th highest-ranked hitting prospect in Triple-A per RoboScout. In August, Jensen has six home runs and a 200 wRC+ over 93 plate appearances. With his average contact and in-zone contact rates, the fact that he has a 90thh percentile exit velocity of 107 mph – essentially the same as that of slugging Giants first baseman Bryce Eldridge – portends 20+ home run power in the major leagues, with a projected .260 batting average and .340 on base percentage.
An interesting performer over the last month has been Athletics outfielder Junior Perez who has ten home runs and eight stolen bases – with a 178 wRC+ – over his last 100 plate appearances. With a 106 mph 90thh percentile exit velocity, he clearly has the thump in the bat and he shows better-than-average swing decisions. The concerns are his contact and in-zone contact rates – both of which are below average at 66% and 72%, respectively – but are, interestingly, remarkably similar to fellow org-mates Zack Gelof and Henry Bolte(including, directionally, their exit velocities and chase rates also), suggesting perhaps a hitting profile for the Athletics with their hitters that they are either targeting or nurturing.
