“The Last Time Is Now Tournament” may feature wrestlers not signed with WWE at the time of this writing, as John Cena disclosed during the announcement.
This sparked curiosity among fans, with speculation on who the potential talents could be. AEW stars Adam “Edge” Copeland and Chris Jericho were brought up, and even independent wrestler Matt Cardona. And now, former TNA World Champion Joe Hendry has put his name in the hat.
Along with Hendry, surprisingly, a ghost from Cena’s past has teased a WWE return. He was released in November 2024.
Wounds Are Yet To Be Healed, As Former WWE Star Baron Corbin Teases Involvement In “The Last Time Is Now Tournament”
Baron Corbin (real name: Tom Pestock), who now goes by the ring name Bishop Dyer, was once earmarked for a World Title run at World Wrestling Entertainment. Or so it seemed.
In 2017, Baron Corbin prevailed in the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder match over big names like AJ Styles, Dolph Ziggler (aka Nic Nemeth), Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and Shinsuke Nakamura. Corbin would attempt a cash-in that summer on WWE Champion Jinder Mahal, who humbled him after John Cena provided a timely distraction. Cena decided to get involved after The Lone Wolf knocked him out for some time with the briefcase.
Tom Pestock/Bishop Dyer took to X/Twitter, sharing a GIF of his history with John Cena, as a response to “The Last Time Is Now Tournament” announcement. Dyer seemingly hopes to be one of the 16 men who will contend for the honor of being Cena’s final opponent.

Bishop Dyer had opened up about his WWE release earlier this year during an interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, where he claimed he hopes to tell the company to “stick it” if they ask him to return. This sentiment stems from how he was unceremoniously released late last year, despite doing everything the company asked him to do, and doing a pretty decent job as well. Dyer stated that this was his motivation, and so he would improve his brand even more outside WWE.
The story writes itself, but whether the former Mr. Money in the Bank ultimately gets the nod bears watching. Will Bishop Dyer be part of “The Last Time Is Now Tournament”? The next few weeks should have all the answers.
