Goaltender Jiri Patera will be making his first appearance between the pipes, while forward David Kampf will lace up for the first time since being signed, head coach Adam Foote told reporters ahead of the game against the Florida Panthers (Sportsnet Pacific, 7 p.m. PT / 4 p.m. ET).
Patera, 26, has spent most of this season with the Abbotsford Canucks in the AHL, tallying a 1-2-1 record with a 3.10 goals-against average and a .894 save percentage in five appearances.
His last NHL start came with the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2023-24 season. Since being taken 161st overall in the sixth round of the 2017 draft, the Prague native has a 3.57 GAA with a .902 save percentage and a 3-3-1 record in eight NHL appearances, all of which came with Vegas.
Kampf, meanwhile, was signed to a one-year, $1.1-million deal on Saturday after clearing waivers and having his contract terminated by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
In four games with the Toronto Marlies in the AHL this season, he has one assist.
The 30-year-old had five goals and 13 assists in 58 games for Toronto last season, all of which were the lowest totals he had recorded in his four-year tenure with the Leafs.
In conjunction with the two moves, forward Conor Garland will be taking a seat after suffering an injury Sunday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He’s been listed as day-to-day after “tweaking” something in a fight against Darren Raddysh, Foote clarified.
The 29-year-old has five goals and eight assists in 17 games this season. Kiefer Sherwood will take his spot on the top line on Monday.
