Denver Broncos edge-rusher Nik Bonitto took shots at New York Giants pass-rushers Abdul Carter and Kayvon Thibodeaux on social media following his team’s 33-32 comeback win.
Bonitto deleted the post, but not before it was captured in screen shots and shared:
The trash talk seemed to stem from Denver linebacker Jonathon Cooper taking a dig at Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart during a press conference:
Bonitto then sparred with Giants’ fans online, calling them a “delusional fan base.”
It all caught the attention of Thibodeaux, who had his own response on social media:
Carter, meanwhile, had his own thoughts on all of the trash talk.
“Yeah, we believe in our guys. Really don’t want to put too much into it—we’re ready for Sunday, and we’re gonna settle everything on the field,” he told reporters. “Yeah, we’re going to settle everything; it don’t really matter no more.”
It was a lot of talk from defenders who promptly watched both offenses put up massive points. Bonitto had two tackles and a quarterback hit on the day, though Cooper was more impactful (three tackles, 1.5 sacks, two quarterback hits).
On the other side, Carter had three tackles and Thibodeaux had one tackle. The Broncos had the last laugh, as Bo Nix and the offense scored a staggering 33 points in the fourth quarter to erase a 19-0 deficit heading into the final frame.
It was a brutal loss for the Giants, only heightened by the war of words that preceded it.
