Nick Gage is stepping away from the ring—and this time, itâ€s for something much bigger than wrestling.
GCW owner Brett Lauderdale has confirmed that the deathmatch icon is currently in treatment and will not be appearing at any upcoming independent wrestling events. The update comes after growing online speculation surrounding Gageâ€s absence. Lauderdale revealed on social media that Gage has been in treatment for several weeks already and plans to remain there for the foreseeable future.
“Was gonna hold off on any kind of public update but ive seen people speculating, so ill give a brief update… Nick Gage will not be attending any shows for the forseeable future. He is currently in treatment (and has been for several weeks) and plans to stay indefinitely.â€
The GCW founder also reassured promoters who had already booked Gage for future appearances.
“Any promoters that have made deposits for shows coming up that he will not be able to attend will be made whole as soon as possible.â€
As for Gage himself, fans can expect to hear from him directly when the time is right. Lauderdale made it clear the support hasnâ€t gone unnoticed.
“Expect an update directly from the man himself when the time is right… in the meantime, thanks to all who have been supportive, MDK all fn day.â€
This development comes just weeks after Gage made a dramatic return at GCW Homecoming: Night One, where he teamed up with Shotzi Blackheart to attack Matt Cardona and Tommy Invincible. But now, the focus has shifted away from the ring and toward personal healing.
How do you feel about Nick Gage stepping away to prioritize his recovery? Do you think weâ€ll see him back in a GCW ring someday? Sound off in the comments and show your support for the MDK general.
