Let’s round up select category leaders for the month of August in the major leagues and full-season minor leagues.

For the second month in a row, Phillies DH Kyle Schwarber led all major league hitters in home runs and RBIs. Actually, he tied with Rays 22-year-old slugger Junior Caminero for the lead with 12 homers in August.

Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz led all MLB hitters in on-base percentage for a second month in a row, burnishing his Rookie of the Year credentials.

What a month for Brewers second baseman Brice Turang! The 25-year-old hit 13 home runs in his first two seasons combined. This year, he has 16 bombs heading into September. During the month of August, Turang led all MLB hitters in slugging, total bases and OPS. This is astonishing for a hitter who entered the season with a career .328 slugging percentage.

To qualify for rate categories, major league batters must have 3.1 plate appearances per team game. Minor leaguers require 2.7 PAs per team game.
