Mercedes Moné just took her first major loss since joining Ring of Honor, dropping the Womenâ€s World Television Championship to Red Velvet at Final Battle.
The loss marks the first title Moné has relinquished in her post-WWE run—and now sheâ€s down to 12 career championships.
The match carried plenty of backstory. Moné captured the interim ROH Womenâ€s World TV Title while Velvet was sidelined with a serious neck injury and shoulder dislocation. The two eventually collided in a high-profile unification match on AEWâ€s Dynamite/Collision special, where Moné came out on top to become the undisputed champion.
But at Final Battle, Red Velvet got her shot at redemption—and made it count. After a physical battle, Moné locked in her submission finisher, the ‘Statement Maker,†appearing to have the match in hand. Velvet, however, managed to use her ring awareness to bounce off the ropes and flip the submission into a deep pinning combination. The referee counted three before Moné could escape.
Just like that, Velvet reclaimed the title she never technically lost, and Monéâ€s undefeated ROH title streak came to a sudden end. While Moné still holds multiple accolades across promotions, this moment resets her momentum and shakes up the ROH womenâ€s division. Red Velvet now leads the division as undisputed champion, while Moné is left to regroup after a shocking first title loss.
