Fan-favorite superstar confronts Matt Cardona after WWE return.
The continuation of John Cena’s The Last Time Is Now tournament occurred on this week’s Friday Night SmackDown episode. The third match of the tournament saw Jey Uso defeat The Miz to advance in the contest, while fans were treated to a surprise in the following match as Matt Cardona, as Zack Ryder, turned out to be LA Knight’s mystery opponent, with the latter winning.
Following the match, The Indy God appeared on a WWE social media video where he stated that since leaving the company five years ago, all he could think about was how he could get back. He recalled wrestling for different independent promotions as Matt Cardona, and whether this week’s match was a one-time thing or a permanent return, he is ready for anything.
After this statement, LA Knight faced Ryder and shook his hand. The Megastar stated that he was unsure if it was a “welcome back” or “see you later” situation, but noted what Matt Cardona did was “good stuff.”

After this week’s Friday Night SmackDown, Zack Ryder was seen crossing paths with more superstars after his shocking return.
Matt’s wife and fellow superstar, Chelsea Green, expressed her delight in her husband’s performance and proudly bragged about being his wife.Triple H also posted his trademark backstage point photo with Zack Ryder, stating that Matt Cardona’s appearance proved that anything could happen in The Last Time Is Now tournament.
