The man accused of stalking WWE star Liv Morgan will not be facing trial next month after all. A new court filing has officially pushed back the proceedings into early 2026.
According to an unopposed motion filed this week, Shawn Chan — the Canadian national charged with one count of interstate domestic violence — will now likely stand trial in January 2026 instead of November. Chan has been in custody since his arrest in June and has repeatedly been denied release pending trial.
The motion filed before the court explained that further psychiatric evaluation is needed before the case can proceed.
“Mr. Chan is charged with the interstate stalking of a professional wrestler. An initial psychological evaluation done to examine his competency diagnosed delusional disorder. The Defense has retained an expert to more fully evaluate Mr. Chan for purposes of trial, and likely to testify. If this second expert will provide testimony, the Government will have a right to conduct its own examination.â€
The criminal complaint against Chan lays out disturbing details of his behavior. On May 26, 2025 — the same day he was issued a passport — Chan flew from Scarborough, Ontario to Orlando, Florida, telling customs officials he planned to stay at the WWE Performance Center, which has no housing facilities. Four days later, he traveled several hours to Liv Morganâ€s home, where he was seen on surveillance footage circling her property multiple times.
He then entered through her backyard, attempted to open her front door, picked up an air rifle from her porch, and left behind a handwritten note containing his full name, Canadian address, and phone number. The note read, in part:
“Itâ€s me Shawn, the guy you all hang out with on [gaming platform deleted] online. Youâ€ve been trying to contact me, or should I say reach out to me when Iâ€m absent from that game. So whoâ€s the stalker, huh?! … I came here to pay just a friendly visit, nothing more. Yet, Iâ€m the one who looks like a stalker thx to all of you.â€
Chan was arrested by the FBI on June 3 after WWE security recognized him from Morganâ€s home surveillance footage and alerted authorities. He was formally indicted on June 25 and faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
The trial delay means Chan will remain behind bars for at least two more months while the defense and prosecution conduct additional mental health examinations.
This latest development prolongs an already tense legal saga thatâ€s left Liv Morganâ€s personal security under constant review.
Do you think the court made the right decision to delay the trial for more mental health evaluation, or should it have moved forward as planned? Share your thoughts in the comments.
