Kota Ibushi is officially out of the hospital following the brutal injury he sustained during AEW Collision, but the battle is far from over. According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ibushiâ€s recovery is going to be long, painful, and uncertain.
The Golden Star is currently using a wheelchair and has lost over 27 pounds since the incident. His legs have reportedly atrophied to the point where he will need to completely relearn how to walk, run, and jump. Meltzer reported:
“Kota Ibushi was released from the hospital this past week. He is now confined to a wheelchair and will have to in time re-learn to walk, run and jump. He noted that heâ€s already lost 27.3 pounds since the injury and his legs have gotten very skinny.â€
Despite everything, Ibushi hasnâ€t forgotten whoâ€s been in his corner. He personally thanked Tony Khan, Kenny Omega, and Michael Nakazawa for supporting him during this devastating period.
“He thanked Tony Khan, Kenny Omega and Michael Nakazawa for all their help.â€
Ibushi is expected to be out of action for over a year, and while the timeline looks grim, his fans know heâ€s built different. From his DDT roots to NJPW stardom and AEW run, resilience has always defined his career. Now, he faces the biggest fight yet—outside the ring.
Do you believe Kota Ibushi will be able to return to the ring stronger than ever, or should he consider stepping away for good? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
