Isaac Kingham retained top spot in the boys†category after weekend two of the National Series, while Irelandâ€s Anjali Singh (pictured above) topped the girls†standings after a three-way countback.
Unlike the first weekend, Kingham was unable to go unbeaten as he won six of his seven matches in the Under-19 Division One. The defeat was as close as they come, going down 3-2 (7-11, 11-7, 11-7, 9-11, 12-10) to Leo Nguyen.
Nguyen ended the weekend in third place having won five and lost two – the same record as Wajid Wafiq, who won their head-to-head match in four to seal second place.
Wafiq was extended to 14-12 in the fifth by Aarav Parihar while, among the other close matches, Nguyen won in five against Parihar, Prayrit Ahluwalia and Francesco Bonato, and Kingham came from 2-0 down to beat Marcel Ndongala.
In Division Two, Jake Davidson won all seven matches, dropping only two games, to finish two wins ahead of Angad Saggu and three ahead of Janak Shah.
The Under-19 Girls†top division saw weekend one winner Eva Eccles finish level with Singh and Catherine Lv as all three won four and lost two.
In the meetings between the top three, Eccles and Singh both beat Lv in four, while Singh overcame Eccles 3-2 (11-5, 12-14, 11-7, 4-11, 11-9).
Brooke Morris beat Eccles in four and also saw off Singh 3-2 (9-11, 11-7, 9-11, 11-9, 11-5). Singhâ€s other defeat was 3-1 to Millie Noble. Noble, Morris and Maja Wojcicka all won three and lost three.
There was also a three-way tie in Division Two, with Mia Lakhani getting the countback verdict ahead of Soraya Rahmani-Walentynska and Rachael Iles, who all won five and lost one.
In that ‘mini group†at the top, Lakhani beat Rahmani-Walentynska, Iles defeated Lakhani and Rahmani-Walentynska overcame Iles, all in three games, sending the countback to points difference.
Oscar Nikolli topped the Under-15 Boys†Division One with six wins from seven, losing only to Rishaan Sawant, in four.
Nikolli won no fewer than four five-setters – against Noah Byrne-Smith, Harrison Hill, Ryan Goodier and, in the closest finish, 12-10 in the fifth against Ryan Holland.
Sawant was second, level on five wins with Goodier but having beaten him in four. Despite beating the top two, Sawant lost out in five to both Hill and Holland. He also had to dig deep to beat Byrne-Smith 3-2 (11-7, 5-11, 7-11, 12-10, 13-11).
Division Two saw Theo Kniep on top, on countback after he and Finley Aitken won four and lost one. Kniep beat Aitken but lost to Mustafa Ibrahim. He also had to fight past Zaid Aldilimi in the fifth.
In Division Three, Soumyajit Dasgupta won all five of his matches to finish ahead of Charlton Ngitngit. The match between them was done in four games, but Dasgupta was taken to five by both William Richards and Parsia Ahsani.
Dhruv Datta won Division Four with six wins out of seven, one more victory than both Taha Shamakh and Samvit Balaji.
Dattaâ€s defeat was in the fifth to Thomas Orbach Otterbu, but he won three other matches which went the distance, against Oscar Dixon, Mateusz Niedzielak and Daven Rawal.
Scotlandâ€s Kiishi Adekola was top of the Under-15 Girls†top flight and won all six matches to put here ahead of Hannah Saunders.
The match between the top two was settled 3-1 (9-11, 11-9, 11-6, 15-13) in favour of Adekola, who was taken to five by Assil Sarri in her first match.
Saunders was reasonably comfortable in second place, though was taken to five by Alyssa Nguyen.
There was a three-way tie in Division Two and it finished with Serene Rahmani-Walentynska on top, ahead of Hazel Lam and Cindy Xiao.
Rahmani-Walentynska lost 3-2 (11-8, 7-11, 9-11, 11-8, 11-8) to Lam, who in turn lost out 3-2 (11-5, 6-11, 11-6, 6-11, 11-7) to Xiao. Rahmani-Walentynskaâ€s win in four over Xiao was the result which made the difference.
Division Three saw both Penny Muil and Zoe Gonpot earn six wins out of seven – Wales†Muil ending on top thanks to beating Gonpot in three. Muilâ€s defeat was in four to Chloe Kniep, while Gonpot won three matches in the fifth.
The top division in the Under-13 Boys†competition saw Malek Shamakh win six out of seven to finish ahead of Ronan Lamont Tierney, Saisuriya Prasanna Kumar and Li Hao Chen, who all won five.
Shamakhâ€s defeat was at the hands of Chen, in four, but he only dropped three other games on the day.
Lamont Tierney won twice in the fifth, against Tyler Shalson and Lusio Wen, but lost in a decider to Kumar. Chen beat Kumar in the fifth but lost 13-11 in the decider to Wen.
Gabriel Church headed Division two above Nayan Pattni, with boy boys having won six and lost one. It was 3-1 to Church when the two met – Churchâ€s defeat was to Daniel Pavia in three.
Phoebe Oâ€Brien won all six matches to head the table in Division One of the Under-13 Girls, above Bethany Yang.
It was a relatively one-sided 3-0 (6, 6, 9)when the top two met, but Oâ€Brien was extended to a fifth by both Evie Turner-Samuels and Rabani Ahluwalia, coming from 2-0 down against Turner-Samuels to win 3-2 (7-11, 8-11, 14-12, 11-6, 11-8) in the first round of matches.
Maisey Phillips won all six matches to finish top of Division Two, dropping only three games all day. Two of those were to third-placed Darcey Parker, with Phillips coming from behind to win 3-2 (11-5, 8-11, 5-11, 11-5, 11-3). Naomi Adeji finished second, thanks in part to a 3-2 win over Parker.
