    WAVERLY, Iowa – Setter Jovial King (SO, Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia HS) earned All-Tournament Team honors with 86 assists in three matches for the Augsburg University volleyball team at the Wartburg College Invitational, including 68 assists in a pair of four-set losses for the Auggies on Saturday.

    FINAL SCORES: Wartburg (Iowa) def. Augsburg 3-1 (25-13, 24-26, 25-20, 25-18); Cornell (Iowa) def. Augsburg 3-1 (26-28, 25-22, 25-19, 25-18)
    LOCATION: Levick Arena, Waverly, Iowa
    RECORD: Augsburg 6-8 overall, Carthage 10-2 overall

    WARTBURG 3, AUGSBURG 1
    • The teams split the first two sets, before Wartburg claimed wins in the final two sets. The Auggies were limited to just .080 hitting (43 kills, 30 errors in 162 attacks), with Wartburg also claiming 11 service aces in the match.
    • King claimed her 11th career assist-dig double-double, and sixth of this season, with 36 assists and 15 digs, adding three block assists and five kills. 
    • Taliah Triggs (SO, Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS) had a team-high 14 kills for the Auggies.
    • Marley Mitchell (SO, Nevis, Minn./Nevis HS) had 10 kills and three blocks (one solo).
    • Elizabeth Oster (JR, Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji HS) had five kills nad four block assists.
    • Libero Maggie Lile (JR, Spring Grove, Minn./Spring Grove HS) had 19 digs and three service aces.

    CORNELL 3, AUGSBURG 1
    • The match was a close one throughout, with 31 ties and 15 lead changes, but Augsburg fell victim to a .046 attack percentage (45 kills, 37 errors in 173 attacks). Cornell also converted 12 team blocks in the match, compared to five for the Auggies.
    • King had 32 assists, seven kills and eight digs in the match, while Lile had 21 digs, seven assists and two service aces.
    • Triggs recorded 12 kills with four digs, a solo block and three service aces, and Mitchell had nine kills with a block assist.
    • Oster had seven kills, four digs and a block assists, and Taylor Hoehns (SR, Cedar Falls, Iowa/Dike-New Hartford HS) had six kills and a solo block.
    FOR THE FOES
    • Anna Sash had 12 kills and six blocks (one solo) to lead Wartburg.
    • Hannah Cantwell had 12 kills, nine digs and two blocks (one solo) for Cornell.

    UP NEXT
    • Augsburg has two matches at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Invitational next Friday (10/3), facing Carthage College (Wis.) at 3 p.m. and Washington University-St. Louis (Mo.) at 5 p.m.
