Kennet Vale Table Tennis Club near Marlborough is celebrating an outstanding year of growth, with membership now exceeding 100 players under the guidance of Richard Ramsden. The club’s inclusive attitudes and welcoming atmosphere have built a thriving table tennis community, achieving notable success in recruiting women to both the club and the league.
Strong links with local schools have also fuelled a surge in junior participation, with more young players than ever picking up a bat. This new generation of talent is helping to secure the club’s future and energising the local table tennis scene. To support this, Kennet Vale has trained new coaches — including a young leader — ensuring that players of all ages and abilities receive quality guidance. The club has also expanded into additional facilities and is actively seeking new solutions for further growth.
Kennet Vale Table Tennis Club’s growth, is a credit to Richard Ramsden, local volunteers and the collaboration across the Table Tennis Community in the area. Kennet Vale is a rural location which makes the success all the more impressive, as many local barriers have been addressed through creative problem solving.

That spirit is spreading across the region. The Devizes League has leapt from 24 to 30 teams for the 2025/26 season — a 25% rise — making it the largest league the area has seen in decades. With entries now confirmed, the competition will feature three divisions of ten teams each.
The plan is to recruit further teams to the League in 2026. If just 1 more team enters the league will consider running 4 Divisions. This would be the first time since 1983 (43 Years)!
