John Cena just received a warning from one of his iconic rivals in WWE.
The Greatest of all Time became a Grand Slam Champion in WWE by winning the Intercontinental Championship on the November 10 episode of WWE RAW. Cena was interrupted by Dominik Mysterio during the opening segment of the show, and Triple H announced an official match between these two for the championship.
Cena beat Mysterio to win the only title he never won in his career, thus completing his career grand slam. Now, as Cena is champion again, he has a target on his back.
John Cena’s Iconic Opponent Warns the Champ
This historic victory made Cena the 25th Grand Slam Champion in WWE history and added to his record-setting 17 world championship reigns. The Miz quickly reminded Cena and the WWE Universe of his significant contributions to the Intercontinental Championship’s prestige. Shortly after the victory, the A-Lister reposted WWE’s celebratory tweet and delivered a pointed response. The Miz wrote,
Took ya long enough. You finally did it. Grand Slam Champion, congrats, but here’s the thing. You won the title I made prestigious. Which means when I win this tournament, I’m not just winning gold… I’m restoring legacy. #MizVsCena”

The Miz’s claims carry substantial weight when examining his historical impact on the Intercontinental Championship. Throughout his career, The Miz has held the Intercontinental Championship eight times, second only to Chris Jericho’s nine reigns. From 2012 to 2017, The Miz captured the championship seven times in five years, establishing himself as one of the most decorated Intercontinental Champions of all time. His combined time with the title ranks among the longest in championship history, with a total of 597 days.
The Last Time Is Now Tournament is underway to determine Cena’s final opponent before his retirement at the end of 2025. The Miz’s participation in this tournament signals his clear intention to pursue the Intercontinental Championship. The rivalry between these competitors spans nearly two decades, with their most notable encounter occurring at WrestleMania XXVII in 2011, when The Miz successfully defended the WWE Championship against Cena with assistance from The Rock.
Whether The Miz and Cena ultimately face each other in the tournament remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: The A-Lister believes he built the value of the Intercontinental Championship and intends to reclaim it.
