Who got the honor of being John Cena‘s final opponents on WWE RAW?
Tonight was John Cenaâ€s final appearance on WWE RAW. The episode took place inside the worldâ€s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden. The newly crowned Intercontinental Champion kicked off the show to much fanfare from the WWE Universe.
Cena barely got started with his promo before being interrupted by the man he defeated for the Intercontinental Championship last week, Dominik Mysterio. The AAA Mega Champion believes Cena was handed a title shot last week, just like he was handed everything else. Mysterio says he had to fight for everything he had and demands a rematch for the Intercontinental Title.
Cena agrees and says they can have the match right now in the Garden. Mysterio says no, they already did things his way, now they are gonna do it his way, and wants the rematch in his backyard of San Diego at Survivor Series. Cena accepts but says he promised he would compete tonight and challenges Mysterio to a non-title match right now.
This brings out Finn Balor and JD McDonagh, who outnumber Cena and attack him. This brings out Sheamus and Rey Mysterio to even the odds. This quickly turned into a six-man tag.
The finish of the match saw Cena hit the Attitude Adjustment on McDonagh to score the pinfall victory for his team.
Only two more appearances remain for John Cenaâ€s WWE career
With tonightâ€s RAW appearance officially in the books, Cenaâ€s career is even closer to being over. The “Never Seen 17†is scheduled for Survivor Series later this month in San Diego before wrapping up his career next month in Washington, DC, at Saturday Nightâ€s Main Event.
The winner of the Last Time Is Now Tournament will have the only off being Cenaâ€s final opponent that evening. While tonightâ€s RAW confirms that a rematch between Cena and Dominik Mysterio will take place at Survivor Series.
These are the final scheduled dates of Cenaâ€s WWE retirement tour:
- Survivor Series in San Diego, CA — November 29
- Retirement Match at Saturday Nightâ€s Main Event in Washington, DC — December 13
WrestleZone will have live coverage of both of these events in the coming weeks.
