John Cena has just one date left for his WWE retirement.
One of the greatest to have ever graced the squared circle, John Cena, is now slowly moving toward his retirement. With just one date left before he hangs up his boots, Cena recently sat down for an interview with Bill Simmons. Explaining why it is โtime to move onโ, Cena said,
โThis is something that Iโve heard a lot this past year. Man, you are going out on your own terms. Thatโs bulls**t. I want to do it forever.โ
โLike, to anyone out there who doesnโt understand what WWE is, just go live. When you step into that building live, itโs just a different energy. I never want to let that go,โ Cena continued. โBut, my body hurts, Iโm a step slower. I promised myself and the fanbase when I started, before I won that first championship, when I am step slower, Iโm Out.โ
However, Bill Simmons countered that Cena is arguably delivering some of the best matches of his career now to which Cena had the response ready,
โYeah, but itโs all I have left. Thatโs people donโt understand. I want to go out at a level that is still passable and in some twinkles, admirable. And, not have to rely on luck.โ He further added, โYou know, I got one date left. I have given my heart and soul to this year. It has taken a lot to just do 35 dates whereas before Iโd do 220 in my sleep. Like, it is time to move on.โ
With over two decades and 17 World Championships in this industry, Cena is finally set to retire on the December 13th edition of Saturday Nightโs Main Event against either Gunther or LA Knight.
