Smith is a physical six-foot-two right winger hailing from Toronto. He was selected in the second round of the 2016 draft by Detroit and made his NHL debut in 2019, playing for the Red Wings, Florida Panthers, San Jose Sharks and Colorado Avalanche in his six-season career.
Smith has recorded 22 points (nine goals, 13 assists) and 268 penalty minutes in 168 games.
