How Eduardo Quintero Became One Of The Dodgers’ Fastest-Rising Prospects

Since signing with the Dodgers as an international prospect in 2023, Eduardo Quintero has made winning championships feel routine.

In his debut season with the Dominican Summer League Dodgers, Quintero didn’t just stand out as one of the team’s top performers—he emerged as one of the most impressive talents across the entire rookie-level circuit en route to the team’s championship season.

Quintero carried that momentum stateside in 2024, playing a key role in leading the Dodgers’ Arizona Complex League affiliate to another championship as the ACL’s top prospect. Despite having to adjust to a new environment and more advanced competition, he continued to shine with his all-around game. In showcasing his speed, bat-to-ball skills and mature approach at the plate, the Venezuela native helped prove that his success in the DSL was no fluke.

For Quintero, who ranks as BA’s No. 58 overall prospect, the early success hasn’t gone to his head. Instead, it’s only deepened his appreciation for the opportunity—and for the teammates who’ve helped him thrive.

“I’m really just grateful,” Quintero told Baseball America in Spanish. “Being able to have so much success by winning championships has been amazing. Most importantly, being surrounded by so many talented teammates has helped me become a better player.”

But the ride hasn’t always been smooth. Just weeks after celebrating another championship, Quintero was promoted to Low-A Rancho Cucamonga. And for the first time in his young career, he hit a wall.

The competition was tougher, the pitching sharper and the game faster. Quintero, who had coasted through the DSL and ACL with ease, suddenly found himself in the unfamiliar territory of battling through slumps and searching for adjustments.

It was his first real taste of adversity as a pro, and it tested him in ways winning never had.

Now, he’s grateful for the adversity he faced.

“Going through that tough slump taught me a lot,” Quintero said. “It showed me how to flush away a bad performance and focus on the present. It helped me develop physically, but at the same time, I got a lot stronger mentally.”

That tough stretch laid the groundwork for what was to come in 2025.

Quintero came into the new season locked in, and it showed from the very first pitch. Back in Low-A to start the year, he wasted no time establishing himself as one of the premier players in the California League. Over the first half, he slashed .306/.426/.533 with 14 home runs and 56 RBIs, blending power and consistency in a way that left little doubt about his readiness for the next level.

A promotion to High-A Great Lakes felt inevitable—and it came right on schedule. But before heading to the Midwest, Quintero left his mark in Southern California, helping lead Rancho to a first-half title in the California League’s South Division.

For all of his production at the plate, Quintero has made a difference in the field, too. With a glove as impressive as his bat, the 19-year-old ranks as one of the top defensive outfielders in the system, largely due to his plus speed. He also boasts an above-average arm that would hold up well in a corner spot if his lower half fills out and slows him down a bit.

Quintero’s impact on both sides of the ball reflects more than just raw talent—it’s a product of the culture he’s been surrounded by since day one.

“This is an organization that doesn’t like to lose,” Quintero said. “It really forces you to keep up with that standard, and in turn, it helps us get better as players because you want to be competitive.”

Now with High-A Great Lakes, Quintero won’t get the chance to play in the postseason for the first time in his young career. But that doesn’t take away from the value of the experience. Sharing the outfield with fellow top talents like Josue De Paula, Zyhir Hope, Mike Sirota and Kendall George, Quintero has been part of one of the most competitive and talent-rich outfield groups in the minor leagues. It’s a dynamic that’s only pushed him to keep getting better.

While Quintero still has a long way to go, the early signs are undeniable. He’s already shown he can win, adjust and lead—all before his 20th birthday.

What sets him apart isn’t just the numbers or the highlight-reel plays, but how he’s handled the moments in between. The struggles, the lessons and the quiet grind it takes to keep moving forward. If his first three seasons are any indication, Quintero isn’t just chasing a dream—he’s building something one step at a time.
