Apollo Tyres Jersey Sponsor-Fans React: Finally, the BCCI has a new jersey sponsor, as India’s Apollo Tyres, a Gurgaon-based tyre company, won a three-horse race in a bidding war to secure this deal.
The BCCI had floated tenders for a new jersey sponsor of the Indian cricket team after their contract with Dream11, the biggest fantasy gaming platform, was annulled due to the Indian government passing the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, which banned real money games in the country.
Several companies reached out to the BCCI for the tender, and finally a bidding event took place on Tuesday in Mumbai at the BCCI headquarters. Apollo Tyres emerged as the winners of the bidding war by placing the highest bid of INR 579 crore.
“The deal has been signed with Apollo Tyres. We will announce it soon,” a senior BCCI member told PTI.
How much money will Apollo Tyres pay to BCCI as the new jersey sponsor?
Apollo Tyres won the bidding competition with the highest bid of INR 579 crore to become Team India’s new jersey sponsor. In comparison, BCCI’s deal with Dream11 was for INR 358 crore. So, the deal with Apollo Tyres is worth more than INR 200 crore for the Indian board than it was with their previous sponsor.
This new sponsorship deal is for three years, and it includes 121 bilateral games and 21 ICC matches. This means that the deal is worth INR 4.77 crore per match, although the price for bilateral and ICC events is different.
According to Cricbuzz, the base price set by the BCCI was INR 3.5 crore per match for bilateral series and INR 1.5 crore per game for the ICC tournaments.
Team India will be seen in the jersey sponsored by Apollo Tyres from the Test series against the West Indies at home next month, which will begin on October 2nd.
Apollo Tyres faced the stiffest competition from Canva and JK Cements, whose highest bids were INR 544 crore and INR 477 crore, respectively.
Some other companies that had shown interest in striking a deal with the BCCI were Omniyat, which has its base in Dubai, and Uttar Pradesh’s Shank Air.
