As they look to try and take the next step, the Carolina Hurricanes may add some depth to their forward corps.
Labanc, 29, is a steady forward who picked up two goals and 10 assists in 34 games with the Columbus Blue Jackets last year, but underwent shoulder surgery in February, ending his season.
He played a career-low 10:30 of average ice time per game.
He joined the Blue Jackets on a one-year minimum contract after spending the first eight years of his professional career with the San Jose Sharks.
Once regarded as a solid developmental forward after tallying 17 goals and 39 assists for 56 points in the 2018-19 season, Labanc has seen his production tail off in recent years.
Selected 171st overall in the sixth round of the 2014 draft, the Brooklyn, N.Y., native has 84 goals and 153 assists (237 points) in 512 games in the NHL.
