A former WWE talent has secured championship gold on the independent wrestling circuit.
Shayna Baszler, working as an NXT producer, captured the women’s world title after spending the better part of a decade in the company. This victory represents a significant moment for professional wrestling’s independent scene and marks a return to championship prominence.
Baszler was released by WWE in May 2025 after eight years with the company. The decision surprised many within the industry, particularly since the competitor had recently renewed her contract. Following the release, her 90-day non-compete clause remained in effect. However, during this period, she made multiple appearances at the WWE Performance Center and NXT tapings. Rather than remaining idle, she worked behind the scenes as an NXT producer, shadowing experienced agents and learning the technical aspects of television wrestling production.
Most recently, she captured the Boca Raton Championship Wrestling Women’s World Championship by defeating Ash by Elegance in a title match this Sunday. BRCW is a Florida-based Indie promotion that livestreams on YouTube. Former WWE star Matt Riddle is one-half of the BRCW tag team champions along with his partner, Stallion Rogers.

This achievement adds another accomplishment to her wrestling career.
Shayna Baszler WWE Dominance
Her achievements within WWE remain substantial. During her tenure with the company, she became a two-time NXT Women’s Champion. Her combined championship reigns in NXT totaled more than 500 days, making her one of the longest-reigning women’s champions in the brand’s history. She also held the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship on three separate occasions, demonstrating her versatility and ability to succeed at multiple levels of the organization.
Baszler built her reputation through hard work and consistency. Other promotions and wrestlers within the industry recognize the significance of this achievement. The Queen of Spades has made her mark on independent wrestling, and with championship gold now in her possession, she has proven that her story is far from finished.
