    Fielding Bible Awards for 2025

The 2025 Fielding Bible Award winners were announced last week, honoring the best defensive player in the Major Leagues at every position.

The Fielding Bible Awards pick just one player at each of the nine positions as the top fielder in MLB at that position — they’re not split up by league — as well as one “multiposition” player, one overall Defensive Player of the Year and a Defensive Team of the Year.

This is the 20th year of the Fielding Bible Awards, which are voted on by a panel of experts based on a combination of stats, the eye test and any other factors the voters choose to consider. The awards are presented by Sports Info Solutions.

Here are the winners for 2025:

    First base: Matt Olson, Braves
Olson won his fifth Fielding Bible Award at first base, tying him with Albert Pujols for the most by any first baseman since the awards were first given out in 2006.

    Second base: Nico Hoerner, Cubs
Hoerner was one of three first-time winners of a Fielding Bible Award this year. He’s the second Cubs second baseman to win the award after Darwin Barney in 2012.

    Third base: Ke’Bryan Hayes, Reds
Hayes has now won three Fielding Bible Awards. He also won in 2021 and 2023 with the Pirates. Hayes is the second Reds player to win a Fielding Bible Award after Brandon Phillips at second base in 2008.

    Shortstop: Mookie Betts, Dodgers
Betts won his seventh Fielding Bible Award, giving him the most of any player since the awards were introduced in 2006 and breaking a tie with Yadier Molina and Andrelton Simmons. Betts won his first five Fielding Bible Awards as a right fielder, and he won as a multiposition player in 2023, but this is his first award as a shortstop.

Betts is the first Dodgers shortstop to win a Fielding Bible Award and just the second Dodgers infielder after first baseman Adrián González in 2014.

    Left field: Steven Kwan, Guardians
Kwan was one of three unanimous winners in 2025, along with Olson at first base and Hoerner at second base. This is his third Fielding Bible Award in the past four years. The Guardians have had seven winners in that time, most of any team.

Center field: Ceddanne Rafaela, Red Sox
This is the first Fielding Bible Award for Rafaela, who led all MLB outfielders in Statcast’s fielding run value. He is the first Red Sox center fielder to win the award, but the third Boston outfielder after Betts (three times in right field) and Wilyer Abreu (right field in 2024).

Right field: Fernando Tatis Jr., Padres
Tatis won his second Fielding Bible Award after also winning in 2023. He’s the only Padres player to ever win a Fielding Bible Award.

    Catcher: Patrick Bailey, Giants
Bailey, a stellar all-around fielder but particularly a pitch framer, won his second straight Fielding Bible Award, making him and Olson the only two players to win back-to-back in 2024 and 2025.

    Pitcher: Max Fried, Yankees
Fried won for the second time after receiving his first Fielding Bible Award in 2020 with the Braves. He’s the first Yankees pitcher to win the award and the first Yankees player at any position since Jose Trevino at catcher in 2022.

    Multiposition: Ernie Clement, Blue Jays
Clement played every infield position for the Blue Jays this season. Toronto has now had the multiposition winner for the Fielding Bible Awards two years in a row, after Daulton Varsho won in 2024. This is the first Fielding Bible Award for Clement.

Player of the Year: Patrick Bailey, Giants
Bailey was named the third winner of the Fielding Bible Defensive Player of the Year Award, following Varsho in 2024 and Hayes in 2023. He was MLB’s top overall fielder in 2025 by fielding run value.

    Team of the Year: Cubs
The Cubs, led by fielders like Hoerner at second base and Pete Crow-Armstrong in center field, won the inaugural Fielding Bible team award.
