Cody Rhodes is already thinking about the finish line—and heâ€s not hiding it.
During a recent appearance on All The Smoke, the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion opened up about balancing family life with the demands of being a top star, and he dropped a major revelation: his next WWE contract will likely be his last.
At 40 years old, Cody is still at the top of his game, but heâ€s eyeing a future that allows him to spend more time at home—just like his father, the legendary Dusty Rhodes, did when he stepped away from the ring.
“You get to a point where thereâ€s only so much you can do, you can only go so long. And I think I know my number where Iâ€d like to get with this.â€
Cody spoke about Dustyâ€s post-wrestling life and how much it meant that his dad was present for his childhood, even coaching his football team in Georgia.
“He was number one dad at every game. He coached our football team. Heâ€s known in Cobb County as Coach more than the American Dream. Like, thatâ€s what he was.â€
That model of fatherhood is now guiding Codyâ€s mindset. He made it clear he wants to be home and fully present as his kids grow up—and that means wrapping up his in-ring career on his terms.
“Iâ€d like to make it so that by the time they hit that age, Iâ€m not gone that often or I canâ€t really walk around that much. And weâ€re getting closer.â€
Then came the line that confirmed it all: Codyâ€s next WWE deal will likely be his final chapter in the ring.
“What Iâ€d say is probably my last contract with WWE, or the next contract I sign, will probably be my last — and Iâ€ll finish my days with WWE. Itâ€s the house that built me, and itâ€s the house that brought me back and put me in this wonderful, wonderful position.â€
Rhodes also acknowledged how difficult it is to balance the intense WWE schedule with being the kind of dad he wants to be.
“But yeah, I donâ€t know. Itâ€s very, very hard to balance.â€
Cody Rhodes has never been shy about his love for pro wrestling, but itâ€s clear that family now shares the spotlight in his heart. As his final run begins to take shape, fans may want to soak in every moment of The American Nightmare while they still can.
Do you think Cody is making the right call stepping away after his next deal? Should he go out on top or keep pushing while heâ€s hot? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
