CM Punk recently reflected on his life in WWE after winning the World Heavyweight Title.
During his first run with WWE, CM Punk was one of its most popular stars, and though he had won multiple titles, fans and he himself could see that he had not been used to his full potential by the company. This led to him leaving the Stamford-based promotion in January 2014, just after the Royal Rumble. This experience killed his love for the wrestling business, and he remained absent from the same for seven years, where he pursued his other interests. He then made his return to the ring when he joined AEW in August 2021, and while he found success there, several factors led him to part ways with the Jacksonville-based promotion. The Second City Saint then made his return to WWE at the end of Survivor Series 2023, nearly 10 years after he had walked away from the promotion. On last night’s edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, Punk was crowned the World Heavyweight Champion by beating Jey Uso.
CM Punk Shares A Heartfelt Message About His WWE Journey
CM Punk made an appearance on Hockey Night in Utah earlier tonight, where he was asked about how he felt about his return to the Stamford-based promotion and how his journey has been so far.
Punk shared that the whole experience felt like a dream to him and expressed gratitude. He then compared wrestling to hockey, stating that he is the locker room veteran now, and said he was thankful for the opportunity to work with talented new stars.
Iâ€m just happy I get to lace up my skates and have the privilege to be able to walk the locker room and the halls with a lot of talented young stars.
Seeing all the fans, all the places Iâ€ve been all around the world multiple times, getting to revisit stuff and see the young and the old all love wrestling, itâ€s great.
“Itâ€s been a dream.â€
