In kayfabe, CM Punk would most likely want to rip Logan Paul’s head off, but behind the scenes, the World Heavyweight Champion respects what the latest member of The Vision brings to the table.
It didn’t take long for Logan Paul to realize he was probably born to be a pro wrestler, and since signing a full-time WWE deal, he has grown from strength to strength. The social media megastar has been involved in several top angles in recent months and even has the backing of a Hall of Famer as a future World Champion in the making.
A large section of the audience might hate his guts, but CM Punk believes that’s what is most admirable about Logan Paul.
CM Punk Sees Money In Logan Paul
During an appearance on Chef Donny’s What’s For Lunch YouTube show, CM Punk, while waiting for a classic beef sandwich, shared his thoughts on various topics, one of which included Logan Paul’s rise in WWE.
The CM Punk from a decade back would have surely taken offense to Logan Paul’s entry into the pro wrestling world. However, Punk has a better understanding of the business now and can see why The Maverick can help expand the industry.
Paul’s desire to do more as a WWE star has also earned some brownie points from CM Punk, who felt the 30-year-old heel’s pure heat had a lot of monetary value.
The reigning champion explained:
I think it’s a benefit. I understand the criticisms, and I would probably be levying them heavily against him if I were like CM Punk from like 10 years ago. But, to see him take it seriously and want to do more, but the way the business is now, it’s almost just like pump the brakes, you don’t need to do more. It’s fascinating, like, everybody hates this dude, and I think that’s one of the more admirable things about him, is how much everybody hates him because in our business, that means money. That’s dollars.”
CM Punk was recently decked by Logan Paul on TV, and in storyline, they are clearly on opposite ends as The Vision looks to make The Second City Saint’s life miserable. Maybe in the future, Punk and Logan battle it out for a World Championship, but that might have to wait if Bron Breakker pulls off an unlikely title change.
