According to Fightful Select, sources close to the situation revealed that both women were fine with taking the loss to Tay Melo and Anna Jay, but they were upset about being given just three minutes for the match. They apparently asked for more time, but officials told them the timing had already been locked in and couldnâ€t be changed.

After that discussion, Newell and Alize left the building about an hour before the show started. AEW quickly filled their spot with Hyan and Maya World, who were praised internally for handling the change professionally and delivering on short notice.

Those backstage described AEW officials as caught off guard by how things unfolded, especially since Newell and Alize had only just started appearing for the company. Neither woman is under contract, and both are still working on a per-appearance basis.
