(AP) Carlos Alcaraz defeated Jannik Sinner 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 in the US Open final on Sunday at Flushing Meadows, claiming his second trophy at the venue and sixth major overall. The victory also marked their third consecutive Grand Slam final matchup of the season, with Alcaraz reclaiming the No 1 ranking from Sinner. The contest took place under a closed roof due to earlier rainfall, with second-seeded Alcaraz dominating the defending champion Sinner from the start.Alcaraz now leads their head-to-head series 10-5, holds more major trophies at 6-4, and has won two US Open championships to Sinner’s one. The 22-year-old Spaniard completed the victory in 2 hours and 42 minutes.“I’m seeing you more than my family,” Alcaraz joked to Sinner. “It’s great to share the court, to share the locker rooms, everything.”“You were better than me,” Sinner acknowledged to Alcaraz. “I tried my best today. I couldn’t do more.”
