Gloucestershire will be without red-ball captain Cameron Bancroft for the remainder of 2025 after he was granted an early release to return to his native Australia for the new season there.
Bancroft will miss Gloucestershire’s three remaining County Championship Division Two matches, starting away to Leicestershire on 8 September, at home to Northamptonshire on 15 September and away at Middlesex on 24 September.
The 32-year-old batter, who signed a new two-year contract in April to stay with the club until 2027, was named skipper for this season after Graeme van Buuren stepped down from the role.
Bancroft will spend the UK winter again playing with Western Australia in his home country.
He was Gloucestershire’s second highest scorer in the County Championship so far this season with 796 runs in 10 matches, behind only James Bracey (844).
Gloucestershire are fifth in the Division Two table, having won just one match this campaign, drawing seven and losing three.
