Nick Hogan filed a lawsuit against Bubba the Love Sponge to prevent Bubba from releasing his Hulk Hogan documentary. While the lawsuit’s still going on, Brooke Hogan attended the premiere and has now defended the documentary.

While speaking at the premiere of Bubba the Love Sponge’s Hulk Hogan documentary, Brooke Hogan said her father’s death is still very fresh, and there are a lot of emotions in her family.

Hogan explained that her family often reacts quickly and strongly, in a very religious way. She didn’t say Nick Hogan was wrong, but she wished they had handled things differently. Instead of assuming the worst, they could have asked to see the tape first.

Brooke said the cover of the documentary makes it look like something scandalous, as if Bubba was trying to take advantage of Hulk Hogan’s death. But in reality, it was a project that had been planned for years. She also said this is one reason she removed herself from her father’s will; she didn’t want to be part of the family drama.

“My dad’s death is so fresh and there’s so much tension and so many feelings and emotions going on. My family has handled situations one way, which is very religious, very knee-jerk. And I’m not saying that Nick is wrong. I just wish they knew there’s another way to go about things. They could have said, ‘Hey, can we see the tape? Is it that bad?’ The cover makes it look like it’s going to be this salacious thing, like Bubba is going to capitalize on my dad’s name or put it out just because he died, when really it was something that had been in the works for years. It would have been nice if they realized that. This is the reason I wrote myself off the will—so I wouldn’t be part of this drama.”

According to Brooke, if her family had watched the film, they would see that it actually clears both her dad and Bubba. The real blame, she said, belongs to the people who did the wrong thing and were never punished.

Brooke believes the documentary gives people a new perspective and when she watched it, it matched what her dad had told her, that Bubba didn’t leak the tape. That was enough reason for her to support the premiere.

Brooke Hogan also said Bubba never did anything to hurt her dad. She knows this because her father told her directly. What really damaged their friendship was public opinion, legal issues, and outside pressure. In reality, they weren’t against each other; it was someone else with bad intentions.

“All they had to do was ask to see it, and I think they would see that it clears my dad, it clears Bubba, and it really points at the people who did the wrong thing—the people who walked away scot-free when they should have been punished by law. It’s a very interesting story, and I think people will take from it a new perspective, and everybody deserves that perspective. From what I saw when I watched it, it lined up with what my father told me—that Bubba didn’t leak the tape. So, I don’t see a reason not to be here to support.

This sex tape was not something that Bubba maliciously did to my dad. I know that because my father told me that himself. Unfortunately, public perception and all the legal things—how you look to the public—got in the way of their friendship. Deep down, if they had just had a little conversation and said, ‘Hey, I know it wasn’t you,’ I think they could have carried on their friendship. It really wasn’t them against each other. It was someone with bad intentions against both of them.”

Brooke said the event felt good because so many people came up to her with love for both her dad and Bubba, remembering better times. To her, it felt like her dad was with her in spirit. She recalled that her dad had been Bubba’s best man at his wedding and once said he would only trust his kids with Bubba.

Even with all the drama, Brooke still sees Bubba as family, trusts his heart, and chooses to stand by what she believes is the truth. In the end, she said people change and go through hard times, but she will always love her dad, her brother, her mom and her Uncle Bubba.

“This has been a really nice event to come to because I’ve had so many people come up to me who love my dad, who love Bubba, who remember the good old days. It’s really nice, and in a way it feels like my father is with me in spirit. My dad was actually Bubba’s best man at his wedding, and he always said, ‘I would only trust my kids with Bubba.’ Even though there’s been so much water under the bridge, at the end of the day, he’s my Uncle Bubba. I know his heart, and I choose to stand by the truth. I know the truth. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. People change, people go through hard things in life. At the end of the day, I love my dad, I love my brother, I love my mother, and I love my Uncle Bubba.”

Nick Hogan’s lawsuit is still going on, but Brooke Hogan’s support for Bubba adds more emotion to the family’s complicated situation. To Brooke, the documentary isn’t about taking advantage of Hulk Hogan’s death; it’s about telling the truth about what really happened. So we’ll have to see what becomes of the lawsuit in the end.

Do you think Brooke Hogan is right to defend Bubba the Love Sponge and the documentary, or should the Hogan family have presented a united front against it? Share your thoughts in the comments!
