Why isnâ€t Billy Gunn appearing on AEW programming? His team has the answer.
The veteran performer hasnâ€t appeared on television since the summer, when The Acclaimed imploded after weeks of hostility between Anthony Bowens and Max Caster.
During a recent appearance on the Fuel & Flex podcast, Gunn revealed that he was dealing with stress fractures in his back. This prompted fans online to link his AEW absence to possible health issues. He also noted that his biggest concern about wrestling at 61 was the possibility of getting injured.
Billy Gunnâ€s team has since clarified to WrestlePurists that the injury is an old one and that his absence is due to AEW not having any creative direction for him at the moment.
“Billy is fine, this is a very old injury that he has dealt with for years. It does not interfere with wrestling or training. It just gets sore if he trains too heavy or hard.
“Attached is a video today showing everyone he is ok. Because of the internet, our phones have been blowing up asking if his back is hurt.
“His absence from AEW is due to him not being booked by creative.â€
Fans will have to wait and see if Tony Khan brings back Billy Gunn on AEW television in the foreseeable future.
After Billy Gunn recently mentioned on ‘Fuel & Flex†that he has stress fractures in his back, his team reached out to clarify that itâ€s a “very old injuryâ€, and the reason heâ€s absent from TV is due to not being booked by AEW creative:
