Elaine Thompson-Herah’s 10.61 to win Tokyo gold four years ago adjusts to the fastest wind-legal time ever, 10.57. (KIRBY LEE/IMAGE OF SPORT)

    (As of August 22, 2025)

HERE YOU’LL FIND our list of the fastest “basic” women’s 100s ever based on our Big Gold Book wind/altitude charts.

The 2025 season has added a new name: Melissa Jefferson-Wooden at No. 5 performer for her 10.75 dash with -1.5 wind at the Prefontaine Classic. That adjusts to 10.66. Jefferson-Wooden’s 10.76 at the Brussels DL adjusts to 10.75, just below the list cutoff.

2024 saw just one new name added: Julien Alfred for her 10.72 (clock time) Paris Olympics winner. As Alfred finished just behind Jefferson-Wooden in the ’25 Pre 100, her 10.77, adjusting to 10.68, lifted her to No. 6 performer on the compilation.

In a 10-day span in 2021, Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson-Herah produced the two fastest entries. Setting aside Flojo’s wind-reading-doubtful ratified World Record, ETH ran 10.61 in Tokyo (converts to 10.57) and 10.54 (converts to 10.60) in Eugene.

In 2022, Thompson-Herah’s Jamaican rival Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce  added seven marks to the compilation.

Two big names joined the list in the summer of 2023, Shericka Jackson and Sha’Carri Richardson — now at No. 4 all-time with her 10.65 Budapest Worlds winner, which adjusts to 10.64.
