As part of their 30th anniversary season, the Colorado Avalanche will pay tribute to to the team’s time spent north of the border.
The Avalanche announced on Tuesday that they will wear Quebec Nordiques specialty jerseys for seven regular-season games this season.
It’s not the first time the Avalanche have worn Nordiques-inspired jerseys, as they also did in the 2021 season.
But this season’s jersey will feature the classic blue, red and white colour palette that is inspired by the France flag and symbolizes the importance of Quebec’s French-Canadian roots.
The Nordiques were first established in 1972-73 as part of the World Hockey Association. They joined the NHL as part of the NHL-WHA merger in 1978-79.
Over 16 seasons in Quebec, the team made it to the conference finals twice.
The Nordiques relocated to Colorado in 1995-96 and won the Stanley Cup in their inaugural season as the Avalanche.

- March 16, 2026, vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
- April 1, 2026, vs. Vancouver Canucks
- April 11, 2026, vs. Vegas Golden Knights
