Arshdeep Singh is an Indian professional cricketer who represents the India national cricket team. He was born on 5 February 1999 in Guna, Madhya Pradesh, into a Punjabi Jatt Sikh family to Darshan Singh and Baljit Kaur. His father served in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for more than 25 years. The family later settled in Kharar near Chandigarh. Arshdeep studied at Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36, Chandigarh, and used to travel 13 kilometers daily by bicycle for cricket practice.
Arshdeep started his cricket career by playing in the Katoch Shield tournament and later represented Indiaâ€s Under-19 team that won the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He also played for the India Under-23 team. He finished that season as the teamâ€s second-highest wicket-taker and was recognized as a future star. In the 2023–24 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final, Arshdeep helped Punjab win by taking three wickets in five balls in the 19th over, defending just four runs. He became one of the most valuable players in the IPL 2025 auction, being bought back by Punjab Kings for ₹18 crore through the Right to Match (RTM) card.
