One of NJPW and AEWâ€s hardest hitters is officially out of action.
Tomohiro Ishii has suffered a dislocated right shoulder, and thereâ€s no telling when fans will see him back in the ring. The injury took place on October 22 during a taped AEW Collision match against PAC in San Antonio, Texas. The match aired on October 25 and was described as a stiff, physical war—typical for both menâ€s in-ring style. NJPW confirmed the injury with an official statement:
“On October 22, at an AEW event in San Antonio, Texas, Tomohiro Ishii sustained a dislocated right shoulder. As a result, Ishii will miss action on forthcoming events, with his return to be determined. We apologise to fans who were looking forward to seeing Ishii wrestle, and appreciate your understanding. NJPW joins fans in wishing Ishii a full and fast recovery.â€
Ishiiâ€s absence comes at a time when he was gaining momentum in both AEW and NJPW. He recently aligned with key AEW stars as part of the Conglomeration and had been making regular U.S. appearances. His loss leaves a hole in both promotions†plans moving forward.
While thereâ€s no official timeline for recovery, shoulder dislocations can be unpredictable—especially for someone like Ishii, whose offense relies heavily on power moves and upper body impact.
Wrestling fans know how tough “The Stone Pitbull†is, but this injury could keep him sidelined for longer than expected if complications arise.
What do you think Ishiiâ€s injury means for AEW and NJPWâ€s shared roster plans? And who should step up in his absence? Send your thoughts and well wishes in the comments below.
