Aad Kwakkelstein has joined the Table Tennis England team as a Coach Developer.

Aad will be work alongside Steve Brunskill in a pivotal role enhancing and promoting coaching standards and supporting the development of coaches within their environments.

His work will focus on mentoring, educating, and supporting coaches to ensure coaching practices align with Table Tennis Englandâ€s strategic objectives and the Coach Excellence Framework.

Aad, who earned his MSc in Elite Coaching Practice in 2020, is a very experienced table tennis coach. He holds the highest coaching qualification in England and in the Netherlands, where he has coached multiple national champions.

His influence extends beyond competition, as he has also coached players who have since become coaches themselves.

He previously served as a National Coach in the Netherlands and as an ETTA Regional Coach for players with disabilities, before taking on his current coaching role at Britannia TTC in Ipswich.

A Level 4 coach, he has also held head coach positions at both BATTS in Harlow and Fusion in London. His Masters dissertation, entitled Players†Communities of Practice as a learning tool in table tennis reflects his academic thoroughness and passion for innovative coaching methodologies.

Aad said: “I am thrilled to apply my academic research on Communities of Practice to the practical development of coaches. It’s an incredibly powerful concept that can help us build a more collaborative and informed coaching community, ultimately raising the standard of table tennis across the board.

“I look forward to using my experience to help coaches thrive in their clubs using an informed, collaborative approach.”

Table Tennis Englandâ€s Coach Learning & Development Manager, Evie Collier, said: “I am really excited for Aad to join our team – he brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience that will strengthen our support for coaches as we continue to progress with our coaching strategy implementation.

“We have some really exciting programmes being finalised, and having Aad on board will help us continue to push these forward as we edge closer to rolling out the new coaching qualifications.â€
