Kai Lun Chow beat the third seed on his way to the semi-finals at the WTT Youth Contender Otocec in Slovenia.

Having got through to the knockout stage of the Under-13 Boys’ Singles as a group runner-up – he was beaten by top seed Alexander Malov of Spain – Chow (pictured above) beat the higher-ranked Olaf Glanert of Poland in the last 16 and then impressively defeated third seed Louis Fegerl of Austria in five in the quarter-finals.

His run ended in the semis as he was beaten in four by Wu Yuan-Kai of Chinese Taipei, who went on to defeat Malov in the final.

In the Under-15s, Chow reached the round of 32, where he went out to third seed Francesco Trevisan of Italy.

Tianer Yu and Bly Twomey are in action in the girls’ events in Otocec, which begin on Monday.

Bly Twomey was also in action at the WTT Youth Contender Varazdin in Croatia, but was unable to progress beyond the group stage in with the Under15 or Under-17 Girls’ Singles.
